    looking for a 12" sub

That would be around 3.0 ft3 total in overall trunk eating space. Most subs 12" and under these days start to work well in that size enclosure plus the port space needed but also imo, start to be as practical and ridiculous looking as female body builders and steroid freaks. I don't know how any...

does a Kinetik battery really make that much of a difference?

Looks like a relay switch to me. I think they are called both because a relay also isolates?

    Do amplifiers affect Sound Quality?

I always thought those brands were pretty darn expensive in their own right. I mean the DD sw 6.5 inch sub is $199. I'm sure maybe it's output is more than JL's 6.5 inch sub but theirs is cheaper. I noticed that similarity with a Sundown sub too, it was like $500, the same as JL's but I guess...

    Bass Knob....

Isn't that why some makers under rate their amps? to allow some slight headroom for when people do that kind of stuff or offer protections that shut the amp down? Mine will cut down the power if it clips. Otherwise if not then I don't get why they would bother having a boost, it would mean just...

    buy american???

I don't think the country something is manufactured in has anything to do with anything. I have personally seen Chevy car parts being assembled by American union workers who literally just did a few lines of cocaine at lunch. Is it any wonder why the Big 3 went and begged for money during the...

BIG 3: Engine ground too hard to reach, can I bolt it up in a different location?

just don't use the engine as a ground point. should be able to access the frame from underneath, maybe run the wire down under the car.

My friend gave me a JL 10w6 Version 1. Is this sub any good?

its free, so just use it until you either save up or get tired of it and want more. Its an expensive hobby where you always want more or want to change it in the never ending pursuit of being Perfectly happy. i went from a W1v2, to a L7 to a W6 and still not satisfied to stop but i have paused...

    wire size and install kits

ok. So should i buy all my wires seperately or as a kit? looks to me the RCA's that come with all of the kits are fairly thin. most say twisted wire RCA. Monster makes some thick shielded cables but they look rediculously overpriced imo. Any suggestions? *edit: what do you think about this kit...

    wire size and install kits

would 12 or 14 guage wire for components really be any better than 18guage? say 100-150 watts? do cheap amp kits like Pyle/Boss...etc just as good SQ wise or are the brand ones like Kicker..etc really make a noticeable difference. I'll be using it on a JLAudio 4 ch slash amp and a MTX Elite...

    Opinions on speaker enclosures?

I actually bought those foam baffles from Crutchfield to use in the door of my Civic. They took away all the bass. Bare in mind i did not test the speakers before the baffle as i just got them as an upgrade.(memphis 6.5) So i cut a hole in the underside, a couple inch hole using a hole saw, i...

OMG you wouldn't believe it. Pyle Square 12's LOUD ported

AQ isnt bad at all. friend had one of their amps for years. they probably over rate their power a bit, but few believe that SUndown does too, not much but a bit. agree, when it comes to audio, home or auto...every model of every brand can vary vastly based on the install factor. How its...

OMG you wouldn't believe it. Pyle Square 12's LOUD ported

for an eye opener, go to google images and type "preloaded enclosure". wow, there is some wacked out designs out there. I do know the Polk db212 is one that actually sounds pretty darn good, got good reviews and one of the louder loaded prefabs i've heard in a while.

OMG you wouldn't believe it. Pyle Square 12's LOUD ported

The way i see it, if you have to be cheap on the sub, your probably using a cheap amp, wiring kit...etc as well. so spending a tad more for a "wet fart" of a better sub is probably a waste of money. You only get out what you put in and even a W6v2 or RE xxx sub is not going to do anything when...

OMG you wouldn't believe it. Pyle Square 12's LOUD ported

if he's happy with it, who cares. i recall a couple decades ago when i was happy with a Jenson bass tube with built in amp. some here probably started off with some crappy stuff and was happy, maybe its best he could afford or best he's experienced, who cares

    Box vibration

uh, well that was a lot of techno jargon making no sense to me....so in otherwords no? don't bother with dynomat or fiberglass? and just so i understand why, maybe you could dumb that down so i can comprehend why Dynomat reduces vibration on door panels but not for sub boxes. thanks
