    4g OFC or 0g CCA?

    I don't know the exact math, and I'd be curious to see it ... but this is my ghetto math. Area of 0ga = 53.5 mm2 Area of 4ga = 21.2 mm2 OFC = 101% IACS conductivity rating CCA = minimum 61% IACS conductivity rating (if 100% aluminum 0% copper) 4ga OFC = 21.2 * 1.01 = 21.412 0ga CCA = 53.5...

Need help using fused distribution blocks

I know that is an option. As I stated, I have the blocks to keep wiring simple/organized. My question is where along the 0ga run should I put the blocks? Closer to the battery or amps?

Need help using fused distribution blocks

Like I said maybe 10ft of wire between the amps and the battery/ground. The reason for the blocks is to fuse the power to the amps (the manual for these amplifiers said I needed fuses in-line).

Need help using fused distribution blocks

I am installing 3 items in my car: 1) JBL MS-A1004 4-Channel Amplifier (internally fused at 60A). 2) JBL MS-A5001 Monoblock Amplifier (internally fused at 80A). 3) JBL MS-8 Sound Processor (internally fused at 25A). I am using 2 KnuKonceptz KNF-23 fused distribution blocks to help me keep...

Rattling 6x9s, should I use CLD? Help me learn about Compressed-layer damping.

I'm strongly considering going with audio technix for my CLD needs just because they're closing out that branded stuff so cheaply to make way for their companies new logos. Damplifier Pro B-Stock is tempting as well ... but I think I'd get better results from the 80mil AT stuff. That Sound...

Rattling 6x9s, should I use CLD? Help me learn about Compressed-layer damping.

Close cell foam decoupling layer. This is something I can't seem to find a lot of information about. Does this mean I am covering the parcel shelf entirely in something like Ensolite (raamaudio has a peel and stick application that's priced nicely)? Would I still benefit from 25% coverage of...

Rattling 6x9s, should I use CLD? Help me learn about Compressed-layer damping.

Alright, I have a project ahead. I am going to be installing 6x9's in the rear decklid of a 5th generation Camaro. The stock speakers ALREADY cause some rattle when you get some bass thumping. This can be seen here: I know how to bolt things up and plug them in, but controlling rattles is...

JBL GTO vs Polk DXi vs Alpine Type-S components .. are they all the same?

MS-62c do look indeed look like quite a nice set. Thanks again for the recommendations! edit: the reviews of these things are super positive ... multiple threads of appreciation which is certainly reassuring. I can barely find anyone who's admitted to owning a pair of 608c's. Only about $100...

JBL GTO vs Polk DXi vs Alpine Type-S components .. are they all the same?

I am getting close to finalizing my purchases for my 6.5" components and matching 6x9. I've narrowed down to three choices (this is based on what's being carried by my shop ... please don't recommend outside of these three). JBL GTO 608c .. they're listed at 2ohm 70w RMS Polk Audio DXi 6500 ...

Questions about LOC's and keeping factory headunits

They do carry the MS BassPro SQ, but I decided to go for 2 12" JBL GTO drivers instead. Going for the MS-A5001 amplifier to match up with the rest of the system. JBL claims 500w @ 4ohm with that amp, but also lists only 500w @ 2ohm. I've seen tests on the A1004 that show the reduction in...

Questions about LOC's and keeping factory headunits

Well, thank you for the pointer trumpet. Stopped in and got some advice from the shop, and ended up deciding AGAINST the Polk's. Instead I am going with JBL's which I've been a LONG time fan of. I got setup with an MS-A1004 amp which takes speaker level inputs (eliminating the need for LOC's)...

Sure, I am located in Chippewa Falls, WI, about an hour away from the WI/MN border.

Questions about LOC's and keeping factory headunits

I have a late model Camaro. It is equipped with a factory head unit that powers the front 6.5" components, and rear 6x9 2(3?) way coaxials. To be completely honest, I think the sound it produces is actually pretty reasonable at lower listening levels. If I want to get speakers moving, as...

Inexpensive single din in-dash DVD /w motorized LCD

Yea, I am seeing online at around $550 for this unit. $450 for a refurb. Still pretty expensive considering the actual feature set isn't that impressive. I was really hoping there was a generation old close out model people would recommend, or even one of these not-known-for-being-amazing...

Inexpensive single din in-dash DVD /w motorized LCD

I checked them out. Their current single-din AVH-P6300BT is $830, nothing close to my original search criteria. DEH-P4300DVD is a double din. I am looking for single din.
