I have Pro 60's in the rear running off an Arc Audio 4100 bridged. It's 185 per channel, plus the speakers are 3 ohms, adding about 25%. They handle it easily, but they lack a little mid bass.

I'm running the Pro 60's with almost 200 watts off a bridged Arc Audio 4100 with the passive crossovers. The gains are turned all the way down however. I've never had an issue with them. I'm running almost 400 watts to the BA Z6's with the passive crossovers and they haven't flinched either...

You might try the Boston Acoustics Pro 60s. Great speakers and they fit your price range and sound great. Very alive. You might try putting a piece of deadener and/or a speaker mat directly behind them to help with the mid bass. It adds a little weight, but not like full deadening. Good luck.

That is the way to do it. What you will find out though is that you cannot create new playlists if there is no library. For some reason you have to have access to the library to move things around on the ipod. I have my library on a separate hard drive and if it's not plugged in, I can't move...
