FINAL POST (to the delight of many). My original post was: "A ported box is almost always louder than a sealed box. But a sealed box is able to get lower notes than a ported box, and tends to be cleaner, while loosing SPL, which looses the amount of amplitude. brad.farmer" A port is an...

I have listened to comparable setups: sealed, isobaric, single reflex bandpass, dual reflex bandpass, ported, transmission line, and horn. Yes, I'm fourteen years old and I've listened to all this stuff. When your father was a car stereo installer and is an electrical engineer with ten years...

Look guys, there are several other sources that I could easily refer to. Instead of bashing me on the internet, why not take some time and read up on theile small enclosure design. I welcome intelligent conversation... However, I'm having trouble finding it. brad.farmer

The difference is 3 db at the ported frequency. Not across the entire response curve for the woofer.

Just some general info for those people cracking on my lack of stereo expertise. Checkout what JL Audio has to say on the subject of speaker enclosures (http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/magic/performance.html). "Sub-30Hz Behavior Sealed box designs and single-reflex bandpasses are much...

    Sub Question

Alright, the subs I'm going to list, are ten bucks over the budge. So please don't say anything about it. Alright, here it is, Image Dynamics IDMAX. These subs are killer! They have a brutal magnet. They are thirty-five pounds in weight. They go down to 22 Hz. They have serious SQL. They...

Play AAU? I do. Want to find out, that I'm six-five? Look at the Alabama AAU State Tournament. You'll find a 13 and under AAU team, there. I'm an age exception. since, of course, I am fourteen. brad.farmer

[POLL] Best 6.5" Component Speakers less than $400

what series do you have? It might be something wrong with your stereo. Because the ones I have listened to, kick any competition out of the way, without any ands, ifs, or buts!!! Maybe you had the treble up to high. That would explain the harshness, of the high frequency detail, in your car...

That's a Rockford, right? Yeah, you probably couldn't tell the difference. Don't get me wrong, they sound pretty good. But, they're made for serious SPL. Therefore, you might not have been able to tell. They may get low, but mostly they are made for SPL. brad.farmer

SQ and SQL that rivals 10W7

Listen to them. The IDMAX. They're cheap, they're good. Quality meets price? Not in this situation. They're better than what you pay! And, by the way, I was late, on this conversation. SORRY:D brad.farmer

    torn surround

Please do not do what the other gentleman said. Please talk with the company that you bought the sub from. Ask them if they can fix the subwoofer's surround, or if you can buy a repair kit. If the company has a repair kit, I would recommend you having them putting the kit to work on the...

SQ and SQL that rivals 10W7

The simple answer is this, Image Dynamics IDMAX. It is a 12" sub, that handles 1,000 RMS, and goes down to something like, 22 or 23 Hz. I have heard it too, this sub delivers! It has high Xmax, good SQL, and awesome SPL. This sub will not fail you. Plus, it is cheap. You can find it for...
