Try holding down the function button for a few seconds... You might have accidentally put it in blackout mode. I have a different model than you so I don't know if yours even has a blackout mode, but that's happened to me before.

I've been trying that... the box comes up with the station that's already preset, and when I hold it down, it doesn't replace the existing preset. You think my HU is the problem? I've tried it exactly how the book explains it... just doesn't work.

This may be a dumb question but.... I'm trying to preset the stations on my new deck. All I should have to do is go to the station I want preset, then touch the glide bar under the preset (1-6) for 2 seconds, right? I tried to go to the preset mode by pushing function, then hold the glide bar...

Yep, that's not enough power. It might sound alright with that, but you could get more out of the sub with at least 1000 watts. BTW mine's the mrd-m1005, not the md1005.

If your subs aren't hitting low bass that well, it's probably because the box is too small/ tuned too high. My 12" Alpine Type X wasn't hitting low frequencies at all till i had the shop switch out my box for a bigger one, and its wayyyy better now. Or you could be underpowering them... I...

Oh yes i made sure this time. Only thing is... Low frequencies hit loud and clean but higher frequencies won't hit that well. I listen to different types of music, so I want a broad range of bass. The box was free anyway (prefab) so I'm not expecting anything great till i get my custom box...

I took it back to the shop, and they switched out my box. They took out my ported one and gave me a sealed. Sounds 100% better at lower frequencies! I didn't think this sub would sound good sealed, but it does. I plan on getting a custom box in a few weeks when i have the money... Is there a...

ya'll think the thin wood could be the cause for the lack of low frequencies? i'm just gonna take it back to the shop i bought everything from and tell them to get me a better box. My previous system couldn't play low frequencies either... just sick of it.

measurements of the box are 17.5 x 16 x 13 in. the port is 2.25 x 11.5 in. wood is about .6 in. thick. my subsonic filter is at the lowest setting. maybe i shouldn't even worry about it, but i listen to alot of rap with low frequency bass and it doens't sound right. its annoying the crap out...

Anyone else have this problem or know what is causing this? I have a new alpine type x in a slot ported box, and an alpine 1000 watt amp in a 95 mustang gt... the sub hits mid frequencies great, has a little trouble with the higher frequencies, and really struggles with the low frequencies...

What do sq and spl mean? I'm new to this.
