Need help with amp problem please

Hi guys I now have the amp cutting out intermittently so all sound stops. Is this down to a damaged amp (was smoking before but ran fine afterwards) or is it a power supply/earth problem?

Need help with amp problem please

Got it working in the end, when I tried the Infinitiy amp again it all seemed fine, even after smoking the initial time. I think it may have been down to bad earth because before with the previous amp I needed a GLI to eliminate alternator noise. Now the noise has gone.

Need help with amp problem please

I have now taken out the sub (was planning to do that anyway to free up space in the boot) and am using that amp to power my front speakers which are now working fine. The amp is powering up fine with the remote lead running at 10V but not sure why both 4-channel amps were bad. As a result I...

Need help with amp problem please

Hi the fuses are all fine. I checked and I'm getting 12V at the power source and 10V at the remote wire. Just hooked up my subwoofer amp to the RCA's and speaker wires and the sound was working again. But when I used the 4 channel amp it wasn't working again. I have re-checked the earth and...

Need help with amp problem please

Hi I have 2 amps being run from my head unit. The one for the subwoofer is ok as the sub is powering up and working. But the 4 channel amp has stopped working for some reason. I've had to remove a lot of rear trim to gain access to it but can't see anything obvious. There is power to the amp...

Need help with OEM speaker wiring

Hi, I am in the process of getting some parts together to upgrade the sound system on a VW Tiguan. I'm using the factory stereo and will be adding a 6 channel line convertor to convert the speaker outputs to RCA's and run 2 sets of components via a 4-channel amp and a 12 inch Sub. On removing...

    New install advice

Thanks. Would something like this work for me? http://www.audiocontrol.com/t34/17612/712451/OEM-Integration/LCQ--1----Six-Channel-Line-Output-Converter-with-Equalization-and-AccuBASS.html I assume this device is fed the speaker level outputs from the OEM stereo and then outputs via RCA to the...

    New install advice

Hi thanks for the info. My current OEM stereo only has it's own internal amp which I believe is 4x15W RMS. I am planning on fitting new components first to see if there is an improvement on sound quality. My ears are sensitive to changes and this VW set-up is not as crisp sounding as the system...

    New install advice

I need to improve the current system on my car. The head unit is a built in double DIN with screen for sat nav and rearview camera but the speakers sound poor so I'll be replacing all of them with componants and also adding a subwoofer later. The current unit doesn't have any pre-outs. So that...
