My setup and speaker recommendations for my mids/highs

Just turn your gain down...your speakers don't need to necessarily handle every watt the amplifier can put out. It's better to have some headroom for voltage drops, wiring resistance, etc. I wouldn't ever recommend running an amplifier at full gain anyway.

CDT makes some 2 ohm components, I actually use them. You can always run less power to the rear small speakers utilizing your gain control on the amplifier.

1.83 ft^ enclosure. Want to try an SA-12 or X12, which would be better for me?

It's a 3" Precision Aeroport. 1000 RMS should work good then with the SA-12 in this situation? Since it's only rated for 600 RMS handling. I don't want to build a new box if possible, it really fits well in my trunk and allows me to still carry 20 gallons of extra fuel to race events.

I also seen a few people running the sa-12 in a 1.7 net enclosure on here....

1.83 ft^ enclosure. Want to try an SA-12 or X12, which would be better for me?

After sub and post displacement it is 1.69 net as was recommended to me on here for the 12q1 driver.

FS: IAS 12" Prototype Driver (Made by Thilo of TC Sounds)

Can you post a pic of the ohm readings for each coil on a multimeter?

1.83 ft^ enclosure. Want to try an SA-12 or X12, which would be better for me?

I have a ported enclosure that's 1.83 cu ft gross. It's currently tuned to 32hz after netting it out for my TC 12Q1 subwoofer. However I am not happy with the lack of output. This is because this sub is advertised as quad 1.2 ohm but it actually a quad 2 ohm driver. My amp puts out 1000 watts...

TC Sounds 12Q1 Quad 1-ohm Driver actually 2-ohm?!?

Ok so I bought this sub for my amp that pushes 1000RMS at 1-ohm. I put my multimeter on all four coils and they were all 1.7 or 1.8 ohm. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's a 2 ohm coil correct? I wired it up series-parallel and on the final wire I get 1.8 ohms...

Replace Sundown SA12 with which smaller sub?

Yeah I would just go buy a sheet of wood and build a small sealed enclosure for the SA12 and see if you like that before going all new imo.

Looking for a little help finishing up my enclosure design for a TC 12Q1 driver.

Also, technically for equating port displacement, wouldnt one have to use the OD of the port tube? Which would be more than 3" diameter. And the first 3/4" of the length of the port I wouldnt include in the displacement equation because its mounted in the wood and not inside the internal volume...

Is a 3" aeroport exactly 3" ID all the way through? I was under the impression that aeroports taper.

Looking for a little help finishing up my enclosure design for a TC 12Q1 driver.

I think Ive found another way to install the port so that I can do a 3" aeroport 9.7483" long to attain a 32hz tune in a 1.7 cu ft box. That will probably be better to avoid port noise. So now all I need to know is the vd of the TC Sounds 12q1 driver. ugh.

    volume of my ported box?

"52.5 wide x 17.5 deep front height is 9.25 tapering to 5 inches" 52.5 wide would be 51" internally. 17.5 deep would be 16 internally. Your tapered wall would be 8.5 to 4.25 internally so we average these two numbers to get 6.375" 51x16x6.375=5202, then we divide that by 1728 to get 3.0104 cu...

Looking for a little help finishing up my enclosure design for a TC 12Q1 driver.

Ok I have ordered a TC Sounds 12Q1 driver along with a Precision Sound 2" Flare port, I only have 7.75" of internal depth where the port will be mounted using 3/4" material for the enclosure. If I went with a 3" Flare port it would require more length, I realize the 2" port may have some port...
