Which would produce more SPL?
2 Elemental Design 16kv.2 subs in a 5ft^3 ported to 30Hz (800RMS @ 2ohms)
or
1 Kicker 15" L7 sub in a 5.0ft^3 box tuned to 30Hz? (1000RMS @ 1ohm)
He has a Directed Audio 1100d amplifier that he would like to use.
Friend still cant decide, BTW all is going into...
Thats what I was thinking, but i just wanted another opinion lol. Thanks man, Everyone else think the same thing?
I know its almost impossible to determine SPL levels but given the circumstances: Exteneded Cab truck, 6 cubes ported to around 35Hz; what are some numbers other people are...
Ok my friend is doing a stereo in his extended cab truck. He said he has about 6 cubes to work with and wants to be extremely loud and deep. He has a DEI1100d amplifier right now (1100rmsx1@1ohm).
His setup ideas:
1 - 15" Kicker L7 in a 6.0 cube ported box
or
2 - 12" Kicker L7s in 3.0...
had metal domes, they were nice, but they were much to "bright". I am using silk now and I love them. Get silk, they sound SO MUCH better with a wide variety of music. I listen to rock, hard rock, and rap/r&b. My tweets sound absolutely amazing!
What about 2- 12" RE Audio SE's with a decent amp
or 1- 12" SX and a good amp (1000RMS)
I have one SX 12" in my car and all I can say is wow! You would think I am running multiple 12's or even 15's. And look at me, i am in a convertible, so I am losing soooo much pressure through the flexing...
get four to six 8" subs (seeing how you have almost no rear space), you will be surprised of how much bass you can get outta them, if you have a good box built and a good amp on them.
I would go with the XXX as well, I have the 12" SX model in my vert and it is amazing, honestly it is a very, very good company with outstanding products.
I have heard the 12" model in a car before, I would say get something else for that price, they aren't very good. It sounded like a 10" Xplod with holes in the cone and a misaligned motor lol. No but it seriously did sound lioke that though
I second the RE Audio 15" MT, or even XXX. I have a 12" SX in my convertible and it really loud and has amazing SQ still. I never thought I would have that much pressure in my vert due to lack of structural strength.
