Hey guys, anyone see any spectacukaee deals on some budget gems in the speaker category. I need 1” tweeters for the factory location of my 2013 rx350 and tweeters and 6x9 midbass for my 2024 expedition build. CDT looks like they are having the Best Buy’s from current research. Let me know if anyone has any recommendations

I can't help with product recommendations, but you might want to check audio forums or retail websites for the best deals!

CDT is having a decent sale but wouldnt say 50% off their previous listed price, thats all smoke & mirrors....
More like 50% off their listed suggested regular prices which from my limited experience their speakers are never at those prices.
Then again theyre charging $45 shipping, atleast for everything I ordered...
Alot of the speakers were discounted $50, like the 6x9's...
Yes, ide say I did save some money but wasnt a cha-ching homer score.

went with
hd-690cf 2ohm 6x9 mid woofer front doors
es1200is tweeter
es-03 3" mid range
es-6ex1 6.5" 2ohm coaxial rear doors

Is this for your super duty? Hd-690’s for the Front door? I’m gonna go with the cl69s

Not gonna do a three way for because I’m being lazy and just gonna run 2 way. es1200 tweeter seems interesting. Do you know if they’re good off axis I want to use the oem location in the pillar. Was gonna use the es 02c but guys say they **** off axis and that’s be better off with a tw26. I don’t want anything but some fill in the rear so really I’m just looking for something decent and cheap. The cl-6ex meets my needs

Ive emailed Jon over at cdt about a million times before pulling the trigger on what I landed on...
Kept sending emails, this vs that, & he would kind of direct me in the better direction.
BUT, he's very neutral at times, maybe this, maybe that, sometimes not a clear better choice.
My build is an F150,
Dont seen the need for a shallow mount 6x9, but then again, performance may be the same. I wouldnt be the one to ask.
Those mid tweeter hybrid "wide band" es 02c are a good option from what ive read if youre not running a 3way.

Any tweeter, generally speaker-ing, is best when they are no more than about 15 degrees off-axis in a car, not always possible. 30 degrees off-axis, aimed near center to about center 6" back between the headrest is a good goal.

You should be as concerned, or even more concerned, with the sound characteristics, the driver's sound signature, as this will also significantly impact how the system sounds.

I'm quite familiar with the CDT line, and the widbands are going to start beaming around 7.5-8k - no way around this. The ES1200is tweeters' off-axis response is really quite good in their price bracket.

If you're talking about the O2C, a different product and still a decent off-axis driver comparatively, not going to find a ton of 2-3" drivers that do much better in their price range.

The dudes who answer the phone at cdt are super non comittal on their recommendations. It’s actually why I’m reluctant to order anything. Every message back yields a different opinion

Sounds about right…
I’ve had a similar experience and I’ve sent a ton of emails…
I’m hoping a better experience the second time around with my selection of components.
Good feedback from many on this forum…

Figured Jon has listened to every cdt under the sun & he would have a little more passion behind what he feels is the best pick between the multitude of component line-up....

I get everyone has a different ear but they sell these things everyday, they get feedback from users, etc....

I personally think theyre options are so spread-out all over the place, they dont know whats what maybe.
Thats just my bad attitude, im sure im wrong there.
They may do better without so many options though, but what do I know,
Ill always be a rookie at this, but theres many here with a wealth of knowledge......

They are trying to be nice, accommodating, and they want to sell you something, too.

I have found that the owner is pretty fair about his assessments whenever I've inquired about a specific product comparison.

What they also encounter pretty regularly is individuals wanting them simply to validate that a specific piece of equipment is "the one" when reality is, it's just what "they" want, for a price that fits, when there may really be better or more applicable solutions, lose/lose situation.

By and large, the info provided is pretty good and time has told a story of a company that puts out a good product and a reasonable price that usually performs above its price - otherwise, just like so many others, they'd have gone away long ago.
