Kenwood DMX958xr with PixelMan PMD2A-S backup camera?

Folks,

I just finished installing a PixelMan PMD2A-S backup camera with my Kenwood DMX958xr head unit. Everything works fine, with one exception. After changing it from NTSB mode (stock) to AHD mode (cutting the orange wire look on the camera and changing the head unit to HD mode had everything working in 720p mode.

Except it is black and white only. NTSB was color. Is there some other setting I need to change in the head unit? Is this camera even fully supported by this head unit? Other ideas?

Stretching an analog low res picture across a high res digital display always looks like crap. The picture is definitely much nicer in AHD mode, even if it is in black and white.

I've got the camera looking out from where the stock trunk lock cylinder was in the upper part of the medallion on the trunk. It has a reflective cone shaped area around the lock that looks black in the camera. Perhaps the camera is seeing that much black on the screen and thinks it is dark. I need to get the camera a bit further back, but that will require (more) surgery to get everything to fit. I was going to look into it this evening after work, but it was dark and raining, so I think it can wait a day or so!
