New Car, New System

Hello everyone. So awhile back I had a shop install a sound system in my 2018 Camry XSE V6 Model and the system sounded great. My set up was

Infinity Kappa 603 CF front speakers/Tweeter component set up
Infinity Kappa 63XF rear door speakers
Infinity Kappa 203S Dash speakers
JL W6v3 Sub
JL RD 1500/1 for Sub
JL 600/4 HD for speakers
lc7i Processor

And with this set up the sound was amazing. However my car was stolen and heavily vandalized and the person stole my entire set up. I ended up getting a new car which is a 2023 Toyota Camry XSE V6 version with the jbl sound system set up. My mom was kind enough to repurchase my entire old set up from the old car and put into the new car but the only difference is the shop I originally went to recommended I get the AP4-TY13 from Pac audio as its a plug and play for the factory JBL set up. My mom had also purchased the new lc7 pro which is an upgrade from the old DSP I had. The shop told me I dont need the DSP if I went with the pac. However, upon getting my car back I notice inconsistencies as when I turn my car on the speakers randomly go out. I'm already planning on going to the shop for this fix but also I notice that with the PAC route the sound is lower than it was on my old car and original set up. Though this time the LC7 pro was not installed as the shop had suggested. But after doing a bit of reading some people recommend even with the pac installed to still go with a DSP. Would the DSP increase the speaker volume? I'm only asking because on my old car I never had my audio above level 5 on the volume. On factory cars to even get loud sound you have your volume set to 25 to get anything due to the amp being weak. But this time I have to set my volume up to 21 to get to what my old car was at level 5. Also would the DSP increase my bass volume as well? Should I just also install the LC7 pro? Or should I remove the PAC set up and just go with the 2 amps + DSP(LC7 Pro)

It sounds like you're facing some challenges with your new setup. It's best to discuss these specific concerns with your audio shop for personalized advice.

The lower volume is most likely just the gain settings on the amplifiers. The channels going in and out is a problem that is very hard to diagnose without being hands on with the car.

The PAC module gives 5 volt RCA outputs and it's plug and play. The LC7i pro would take more to install. Both are line output converters. Neither are a DSP. I am not familiar with the PAC module but it looks like you have to have the AmpPRO PC App to make adjustments to volume and the whopping 3 band EQ. Just take it back to the shop and let them fix it.

The AI ***** lmfao

Great response, "you're having problems, have you tried going to a professional?"

@Popwarhomie is correct. you don't have dsp at all.

You have good speakers, I assume amps too? but good sounding parts overall. Good tune and sound treatment will sound great.

Anyways, if you paid someone to set this up, ask them why it ***** 😂

Bot responses are about as useful as a third ***** on a gremlin. If it was hungry who'd feed the damn thing?

Bot tryin' to pose as a trusted source is even worse imho.... I guess engagement is the goal.

I wonder why...
have you seen the chatgpt boxes? they're very wrong. and often won't fit the car. AI can't do this hobby, there's too much too it

I assume they added it for engagment...but I'd rather join a niche forum like this and have no response to my thread over having an AI

Agreed... I am what I consider an Amateur, unwilling to claim "professional" status with all that status may entail. A bot cannot answer enclosure design questions as well as an email /w/ a few photos and goals directed at someone who has decades of install and design experience.

Someone who can design a series 6th to meet goals on the 1st try every time may be the guy you seek out, in the other extreme maybe a aperiodic isobaric Tline if goals warrant.

Yep... AI or bot engagement is definitely where I'd go...

Thank you guys for your responses. I ended up going to the sound shop today but the main guys aren't there on the weekend. I did explain my concerns and they said to come back on tuesday (darn holiday weekend! lol). And thank you for educating me and explaining that the two I have are not DSPs. I was under the odd impression that the lc7 was actually a DSP. They did do a bit of diagnosing however to the best they could do and did actually improve my speaker sounds. However, my speakers are going out whenever I get a text message or any notification (Android Auto) but upon disconnecting and reconnecting my phone to the car, the speakers work again. They said they would diagnose this on tuesday. But now begs the question... Should I go ahead and get a REAL DSP for my car? I have powerful amps and the pac amp pro with my system. My overall budget spent with this system thanks to my mom and what I have previously is obviously high. Should I might as well invest in a DSP? What are the advantages of adding a DSP? And can anyone recommend a really strong DSP for my system. My budget right now is quite high so money isn't an issue. I honestly wish I was an experienced sound technician or this was my field of expertise but unfortunately fell on the Computers/Laptops spectrum and Veterinarian work as my expertise instead :p. Thank you ahead of time for the responses

Hello everyone. So I went back to the shop and they fixed the general issues I was having. Sound system sounds great, however one thing was brought up about my amp powering my single W6v3. I currently have the RD 1500/1 which is great but I was told that its way too overkill for a single w6 and I might be better off exchanging it for the HD series. I contacted crutchfield and they are willing to do an exchange. But I have 2 options. the HD 1200/1 or HD 750/1. The shop guy said if I have the funds it would be better to go with the HD series for a cleaner signal and cleaner bass sound and power. Both amps are a little more expensive but I do have a really high budget and am willing to upgrade and swap. Would the HD 1200/1 damage the sub since its rated at 1200RMS and the W6v3 says 600rms? It is my understanding that JL underates their subs and they can actually use more power. I just want to provide enough power to my sub while at the same time have it sound great! I was debating on getting another W6 but I'm perfectly happy with a single sub. Also looking into a Helix DSP but unsure on which to get.
