Current events discussion

I thought we were discussing facts, and not personal beliefs.
"NEW YORK, April 9 (Reuters) - Stock indexes posted their biggest one-day gains in years, with the S&P 500 (.SPX) , opens new tab recording its largest rise since 2008, while the dollar gained and Treasuries pared losses on Wednesday after U.S. President Donald Trump declared a temporary U.S. pause on tariffs."

Did you not know Steve Bannon talked about it on April 8th, and Trump announced it on April 9th?
Those are facts. An unchangeable piece of history that you should know, instead of declaring a false belief about what happened.

He fucked us all by taking actions that resulted in the complete opposite results of what he promised when he ran for POTUS.

Inflation is up, unemployment is up, the markets are bleeding money, businesses are losing money, welfare use is up, retirement accounts are shrinking or vanishing.
That's not "MAGA Winning!", that's ******* us.
How are you fucked personally?

Of course you couldn't see how the previous administrations policies can affect the incoming administration, unless of course it was "good" Obama policies that benefited Trump or "crap" Trump policies that hindered Biden. Odd how that works.
OK. Explain how the pandemic stimulus money made the market tank within HOURS of Trump announcing his stupid massive tariffs.
Explain how the stimulus money made the markets rally within HOURS of the "pause" announcement.

Is this a personal theory, or one you heard from an economist or market trader?

How are you fucked personally?
A little thing called MONEY. A 10% drop in the market has a BIG impact on my retirement accounts, my mutual funds, my medium-term investments. I'm spending more money that I was promised would be less.

I'm not on a fixed income, waiting for a retirement that will be fully funded by RSDI.
So yes, you will let people fill your head with whatever information they like as long as they say orange man bad.

I have already made it clear who pays the tariff and who gets the money. Clearly you want to make me appear some kind of way by the false statement you just made. Wanna tell us why?
The last argument you made regarded your belief in China paying import tariffs on goods coming here.

An example of US business getting fucked by the tariffs, and passing some of the ******* on to the consumer:

"Rick Muskat, president of the family-owned shoe retailer Deer Stags, which imports around two million shoes a year — with about 98% of their men’s and boy’s shoes made in China and sold in Macy’s, Kohl’s, JCPenney, and on Amazon — is among the business owners preparing to take on exponentially increased import duties, but says the financial pain and split of the pain between his firm and retailers will be difficult.
His once $50 pair of men’s shoes and $35 little boys’ shoes have already gone up $80 to $65, respectively, after recent trade war moves by the U.S., with Deer Stags set to pay more than a 104% new tariff on Chinese goods being stacked atop previous tariffs."

"Other U.S. importers are expected to abandon goods at ports, which can then either go back to the manufacturer or it can be auctioned or destroyed in the U.S."

(Which means they imported paid for goods that they will never get, and never get a refund for.
A smaller business that placed a big order and now loses it all can easily go OUT of business.)

MAGA Winning!

Nobody believes you are in the market. I think you are just fronting so you can bash Trump. Also, the market is a volatile place to put all your eggs in that basket. Invest smartly or you will lose.
I'm not on a fixed income, waiting for a retirement that will be fully funded by RSDI.
Ahh... there is the answer I have been looking for as to why you don't improve your employment... You are waiting to retire. Got it.
The last argument you made regarded your belief in China paying import tariffs on goods coming here.
I see, so you didn't pay attention and felt like making an ignorant statement. Got it.

China isn't the only ******* country for America to buy goods from. They just happen to produce CHEAP shit at CHEAP prices. I don't mind spending more for quality shit. You continue on bending your knees for Chinese products.
MAGA Winning!
Oh I see... you are just looking for any excuse to say "MAGA Winning!" sarcastically.

Because when you pump money into a market it will eventually burst. Pandemic stimulus was insane and tons of that money went into the stock market. The Fed and other central banks were pouring money into the system too. Again just because "that was the straw that broke the camel's back" doesn't mean the rest the of the straw didn't play it's role. Or go with Orange Man is responsible for all the world's ills - your call.

Notice the bias in the article. The importer and retailer are going to feel financial pain. No mention of the pain the exporter will experience. Anything but bring jobs back to the US. Lets just send people to college for worthless degrees and then pay off their student loans. At least there will be lots of baristas.

There you go, living by your beliefs again. As was said by another member, just because YOU are living off a fixed income and have no money invested for your future, doesn't mean nobody else does.

Ahh... there is the answer I have been looking for as to why you don't improve your employment... You are waiting to retire. Got it.

Mmm, hmm. Those "cheap" iPhones, lol.
All of the "cheap shit" we buy from China:

You know, those "knockoff" nuclear reactors are a big hit in the south.
$37 BILLION dollars worth of "cheap shit" computers.
$115 BILLION worth of "cheap shit" machinery.
$9.3 BILLION worth of "cheap shit" Nintendo Switches.
$3 BILLION worth of "cheap shit" aluminum
$7 BILLION worth of "cheap shit" pharmaceuticals
$400 million worth of "cheap shit" wheelchairs
87% of all "cheap shit" bicycles in the US from China
40% of all LED lighting in the US from China

Tell me, how many US-made TVs do you own?
How many phones that do not have China-sourced parts?
How many computers?
How about the car you drive? 100% US-made?
Your JBL TrueWireless headphones? US-made?
Your clothing? All US-made?

You're fooling yourself if you think you are even SLIGHTLY living a "buy American" lifestyle.

Oh I see... you are just looking for any excuse to say "MAGA Winning!" sarcastically.
Took you a while to catch on, huh?

What pain for the exporter? They already have the money if the goods are shipped.

Yes. Bring jobs back here. Explain how we can make Nike sneakers here for ten bucks a pair without lowering the min wage to $2.00/hour.
Or explain how we can make them here, and triple the retail price.

Fixed income? No... I made a shit ton of cash money tonight. Nothing "fixed" about it. I have investments... none of which are the S&P 500. I'm not broke so that is a plus. My bases are covered for sure.
Explain.

That frog in your pocket again?

Rob? Does this statement not make sense to you? It's ok if it doesn't. Let me know and I will explain it like when you have to explain things to a not so bright woman.

Holy ****... so you think trying to WOW me with prices in the billions of dollars is anything special? They manufacture in ******* BULK Rob.

$37B in cheap computers... yes, cheap computers. The same amount of computer from Japan would cost what? $150B and be superior quality.

Really? Pharmaceuticals... from China???? Yeah, the Fentanyl is great quality coming from China.

Not one time EVER did I say I only buy American or I only use American products. Idiot. The point is the WORLD including the US is too dependent on low quality from China just because it is cheaper. What's even more fucked up is they steal the worlds tech to mass produce sub-par replicas and sell the shit to the world. Gobble Gobble Gobble!!
Took you a while to catch on, huh?
I have known your game from day one.
