Nope. For example, I'm not going to credit Trump for Covid going away, when it's really because the virus has mutated to less deadly strained. Fact should always trump rhetoric even when it would be politically convenient/inconvenient to do so. When rhetoric trumps facts, we live in delusion. I prefer reality to delusion.

So we have a deluded president in place because deluded people believed his claims of what he could and would do if they voted him in for another try.

Or is it that he knew full well he was lying and hit the jackpot with followers that believed him, and voted for him based on the lies?

Ironically, that makes you equally as deluded as Trump's followers. Or, just a crazy idea, we differentiate between the rhetoric & hyperbole that occurs in politics. And if one is going to exercise such discretion, hopefully they can do so on a non-partisan basis.

They are going to impose a 25% tariff? LOL... On what? They barely sell anything of ours down there. They sell a heck of a lot more here than we do there. There were a few countries that tried to play "chicken" with Trump, and they all lost. Columbia tried to play against Trump, and look what's happening now.

If he did something praiseworthy, he could get praise for it.
Making promises, and failing to deliver on them, is not praiseworthy. Being a ****** is not praiseworthy. Being a racist is not praiseworthy. Being a convicted criminal is not praiseworthy. Being a pathological liar is not praiseworthy.
