Tariffs obviously don't work

Seriously though it was obvious the Canada/Mexico tariffs were threatened just for that reason...I know, I know it's not an economic benefit from said tariffs but here we are

It's odd that a "trade" policy that has existed probably since the beginning of civilization isn't accepted as a useful. Of course for many, it's a matter of who enacted the tariff. Ie I haven't heard the left criticize Biden's tariffs or in the case of semiconductors/chips, outright import limitations.

My kiddos are actually pretty conscious about taking care of their bodies. I'm pretty confident my kiddos won't get into fentanyl, but as you said it's cut into everything. Living in Colorado marijuana is everywhere.

Did you read the article you posted regarding inflation? Inflation drives large purchases like Real Estate, capital investment, etc. I think if you're in the upper tier of wealth, then inflation is/can be advantageous. If you're a retiree, you're thrilled to see the S&P500 go from ~4000 to 6000 in the past year.

Did you see Mexico is already responding to Trump's tariff threat by breaking up the immigrant caravans?

That's cool. Do we credit the current POTUS, or one that will be in office in a month?
The largest of those caravans to have happened was in 2017-2018, the first two years of Trump's presidency.

Do we blame Trump for it starting and then credit him for it stopping? If so, do we blame Biden for this one starting, and then credit him for it stopping?

Inflation is growth, for sure. Can too-rapid expansion cause problems? Absolutely. The current admin recognized them, took action in an attempt to steer things in the right direction, and inflation has been falling for two years to the appropriate level it's at now.

If it goes up again, do we applaud because Trump caused it, or vilify him for destroying the country?

They have a firm belief in something. In this case it's that belief that Trump is Hitler incarnate and whoever the Dems put up is a Saint.

I've had conversations with legit communists and have been able to find something we both agree on. It's the party riders that common ground doesn't exists for.

You know history, I'm sure. And history is that tariffs generally were dropped in favor of taxes (here in the US, at least).
If we're going to just increase the taxes in SOME way, why not be honest about it?
Keeping the current sales taxes and adding a tariff tax on top of that doesn't cost less than if you just taxed the products more.

If that sub amp costs you $30 more tomorrow, would it be OK if it was tariff-based, but not tax-based?
The same people who will scream bloody murder about a tax increase are accepting a tariff, because "MAGA!!!"

It's a matter of semantics, but the money comes out of our pocket either way.

I'm not a bill Clinton fan by any means but after losing the house and having to work across party lines played a huge part in what he accomplished as president...in today's extreme polarization I don't see that being possible again anytime soon...maybe not even in my lifetime and I'm only 47

Depends on what the purpose of the tariff is and the benefits we see from them...with all the waste and bloat in government on pretty much every level there's no reasonable reason to be forced into more taxes.

RE: the immigrant caravan, I assume Trump should get the credit unless Biden/Harris have done something that I'm unaware of.

I think Biden & Trump deserve similar blame for inflation, which I would consider minimal. The Fed is responsible for inflation. I'd say both POTUS's deserve minimal blame for the S&P500 as well. The Fed blasted money into the system and ton of it found it's way into the stock market.

Blaming Biden or Trump seems silly. The people who vote them into office are ultimately to blame. These people don't get into office on their own.
