Current events discussion

The worst part is the rambling. Many of his posts don't make any sense. Especially when trying to relate it to the topic of the thread. Really? What does Tosh.0 have to do with building a subwoofer box?

Why don't you try to make it a little more dramatic by leaving out a few more words. He said....

A month later, President Trump tweeted, to the surprise of military advisors, that the remaining U.S.troops in Afghanistan should be “home by Christmas!” You love moving things around to paint your pictures don't you.
Christmas is December 25th, which is 21 days BEFORE the originally stated completion date of January 15th.

So, he failed on December 25th after getting all the families excited, then he also failed on the January 15th date.
He offered a date without there being ANY possibility of that date actually being met.
Sounds awfully similar to "gone by Easter. Like a miracle".

I guess we have to chalk it up to "sarcasm" or "making a joke" because that is how Trump gets excused when, as the person who "says what he means" is actually NOT saying what he means.

"when President Biden took office on January 20, 2021, the Taliban were in the strongest military position that they had been in since 2001, controlling or contesting nearly half of the country"

So the Taliban hit their highest level of power in 20 years while Trump was in office.
Mistakes were made.
Huge ones.

No, we have to take it for what it actually is. "Should Be" is not a definite. Things change as with anything in life. Had he said "WILL BE home by Christmas" I could see your gripe. But you have no gripe because he didn't say "WILL BE". I really wish you liberals weren't so damn intent on faulting people for everything and put all that energy into uniting and working together, Democrats and Republicans.

Disregarding the extremely poor form of the "home by Christmas!!" tweet, the drawdown was supposed to be done by January 15th.
It wasn't.
AND when Trump left office, the Taliban was stronger than it had been in 20 years.
That's failure. Can't deny it.
