I'll say it again. Our oil is too dirty. That means we have to buy foreign oil. Anybody that says that we should use our oil is ill informed. The Keystone pipeline oil is/was scheduled to go overseas because it is dirty. The USA is producing oil at record levels these days.
I am pretty sure you have it wrong. American crude oil is light crude oil and actually fetches a higher prices than heavy crude oil on the market because it yields more gasoline and diesel when refined. If we are refining the oil we are importing then we ARE refining the less desirable (dirty) crude already.

When done smartly we would profit from this and gas prices would also be lower. Right now it is not being done smartly. The profits are obviously going elsewhere to fund specific agendas.

Oil is a global market. We both import and export petroleum depending on what is needed, where it is needed, refining capacity of the markets involved, etc. What I'm more concerned about is that many/most nations with massive oil reserves use that create National Sovereign Wealth Funds. Instead we choose to allow Big Oil to make massive profits; in that sense our oil reserves are treated more like Russia, than many Middle Eastern Countries. It's astonishing how the richest most powerful economy to ever exist refuses to "share the wealth."

Why doesn't anybody mention Canada? The United States of America is producing a record amount of oil. I guess Biden should be given credit for that.

I know you won't read it. I still try.

Nobody is talking about the keystone pipeline.

We know the United States is producing record numbers of crude and it is all being sold off. We are selling off what, 20+Billion barrels a day when the United States uses about 18B barrels a day so that is a negative 2+ billion barrels. At that point we have no choice but to be dependent on other countries regardless of cost. That is the point, if this government wasn't selling off all our oil things would be different.

We producing crude we aren't able to refine...I guess biden can accept some of that blame since you wanna give him credit for the production...right

You can tell @Thxabout selling our oil because the United States of America can't refine it. We can blame Biden if you wish. Let's just all admit that he's producing more oil than Trump ever did.

What difference does that make? Big oil exports whatever crude we can't refine to someplace that can refine it. IIRC, we're one of the bigger exporters of refined petro products. If Big Oil really wanted more refining capacity, they'd have it; big business always gets its way. Big Oil probably prefers to refine locally in other countries with laxer regulation, lower labor and construction costs, etc. If Big Oil really wanted to build new refineries, they'd bribe whoever needed to be bribed.

It's almost impossible to get through the permitting process for one then permits getting canceled on political whims (i.e. Keystone) then add in constant court cases fighting a potential permit...yeah they can build refineries 🙄

So no matter what we drill...we're as dependent as ever on unfriendly at best nations for our energy needs...no way that'll ever bite us in the azz...
