So the cops shoot this guy, who got caught red handed robbing a convenience store with a gun and now they have to do damage control? What a wacky wild world we live in.

There are definitely limitations, but we have moved well beyond *********** being illegal to produce and distribute (local statute, obscenity, and child *********** notwithstanding). Like other speech, it is protected under the 1A.

So, do we now want to follow Thx’s lead and decide that one legal form of free speech is ok because we like it, but another is not ok because we don’t like it?
That’s a dangerous and slippery slope to be on.

Same with the opposing protests. If both are being done legally and the goal is to avoid conflict, then both must be stopped. LE can’t get into a pickle by arresting protesters on one side and not the other. Laws need to be enforced fairly and with equity.
Imagine if it was two religious services and LE decided to shut one down because they didn’t like it.
Bad juju.

What if they were recording and distributing readings from the Bible?
Would you consider it acceptable?

That would probably violate separation of church & state (in publics schools).

I think the 1st amendment can survive **** being banned in schools.

Probably, but any precedent that can be used in the future to screw with our rights is a bad one.
I personally push for consistency, even if there are instances I really hate it.

It's not a brilliant move by any stretch of the imagination, but I tend to think beyond the very basics of the situation, especially when it comes to laws, rights, etc.
Knee-jerk reactions are often not the best when it comes to stuff that can affect all of society.

Like the knee-jerk reaction to kick kids out of school for not saluting the flag (it was against their religion). It was based on feelings.
And was later overturned by the Supreme Court as a violation of rights.

I don't think the "no **** filming in school" would be overturned by the USSC.

If it was strictly a 1A issue, they might have to. But it's easy to turn it into other things. Unauthorized use of the school for personal income, trespassing, etc, etc.

No... I don't believe the biased media or democrats and what they claim as Trump's bullshit claims. Hell, just look at people like you for example and your claim that he TOLD people to put disinfectant in their bodies.
