AI is complex, because there’s different types, and there’s also machine learning. There’s also “thinking” AI, and that scares me, especially if you have a rogue AI that can think to “create” and has access to anything hooked up to the internet. Once AI gets to use a high qubit quantum computer and break all encryption, it’s game over man! Lol

Find me some AI that runs without a computer.
Find me a computer that runs without AI (by the strict definition, all software is AI).

And AI is capable of more than just “follow rules”. It can actually take new information and use it to adapt and change. It’s not living or sentient, but it can certainly become more than it was originally programmed to be.

A calculator is AI, but will never adapt to your style of data entry nor be able to predict what you are going to enter on it, as opposed to ChatGTP that is learning and changing and adapting to be more like a human in conversation. Or AI that rewrites and modifies it’s own code to be better.

It’s why it’s called “Artificial Intelligence” as opposed to just “software”.

A computer does what it is programmed to do. If it "changes" or "Adapts" it was programmed to do that.

Yeah, when they plug in a shit-ton of data and the computer spits out a result based on processing all that data, it's AI at work.
"SIRI, where is the closest gas station?" AI at work.
Plane flying into a mountain. "Pull up. Pull up. Pull up." AI at work.
Traffic lights that adjust their timing based on traffic patterns. AI at work.
A thermostat that changes it's heat/cool cycle based on activity in the house. AI at work.
Predictive typing on your phone. AI at work.


AI that is running on...COMPUTERS.
No conflating at all.

The "future"? We couldn't last a day in the PRESENT. Humans just couldn't efficiently or quickly enough do the work that computers do for us day in and day out, or you would need so many humans doing th work, it wouldn't be cost effective.

Air travel is a good example, and one I've already used. Here is a visual example of all the global flight sin a 24 hour period. Try making that happen without computers. It's literally impossible.
