But gases taxes are flat so when gas prices increase, the govt's "profit" doesn't increase. Furthermore, as gas prices increase, demand decreases, so the govt's revenue (or what you call profit) actually decreases. If gases taxes are "profits," then it's actually working exactly the opposite of what you claimed - gov't "profits" drop with increased gas prices.
Maybe they didn't offer civics, social studies, etc in your schools, but you seem to be ill informed on how gov't works. Taxes are not profits, they are revenue. Furthermore, the gov't does a ton of shyt, so whatever taxes they tax they do work for.
