That should have been a 30-40 second clip. About 20 seconds in Maria Bartiromo could have just mentioned the constitution prevents the POTUS from unilaterally raising taxes. I used to respect Maria before she moved to FoxNews. Back in her CNBC days, she would have probably dismissed Biden's threats as gossamer in the wind.

Luckily for politicians, FoxNews, CNN, et al, American's are intellectually lazy, uneducated and stupid. Biden comes on the television with "Blah, blah, blah, I'm going to raise taxes on oil companies" and you have idiot liberals thrilled that Biden is going after big oil. You have dumbass conservatives up in arms that Biden is raising taxes. None of the infotainment organizations are going to bother reporting "Nothing to see here folks; Sleepy Joe can't unilaterally raise taxes and he sure as hell isn't getting 'windfall' taxes thru this or the next congress. Let's just hope he doesn't wander into traffic." And if all the idiots who claim to have read the constitution had actually read the constitution, they wouldn't need somebody to tell them POTUS cannot unilaterally raise taxes.

Instead we end up with this crap passing for news - don't get me wrong, FoxNews is just doing what the almighty dollar dictates they should do. I'm sure there is some equally craptacular liberal version of this story on MSNBC, etc with some legal scholar blathering about the POTUS using emergency powers or some other crock of shyt to raise taxes on big oil.

So in conclusion:

Conspiracy? No
Right wing? In that it was Fox and had a typical conservative slant, yes. Although I'm sure there is an equally nauseating liberal slant to Biden's empty threats.
BS? Yes, BS stacked a mile high. BS when Biden said it. BS when FoxNews went down their rather predictable path with it. BS that it was ever said or ever given more than 45 seconds of airtime. BS that nobody is calling Joe out on his new found powers. An incredible amount of BS indeed.

Acceptable short term, unacceptable long term. Remember Trump and Biden dumped a ton of unearned money into the economy to offset economic damage caused by covid. The Fed dropped rates and dumped money into the economy. We were eventually going to have to pay for that in form of inflation.

On the plus side I was able to refi at 2.25% thanks to my military service and some sort of world wide conspiracy to release a virus for the sole purpose of torpedoing Trump's re-election. Additionally, the Fed is finally pushing rates back into the "normal" range. They've been struggling to get rates back up since the mortgage implosion and finally they've accomplished that. I think they'd like see rates maybe .5-1% higher.
