The fact that they work their field and are experts through experience and continuous ongoing education, means nothing to you. While anyone with dark skin (even light skin) can trace their heritage to Africa, I consider when multiple generations have lived elsewhere to have that elsewhere as their heritage (i.e. a 4th generation Jamaican might be considered simply “Jamaican”). There is probably some standard like that used to determine “where you are from”.
