I don't know why we are letting the government push this green crap and EV's. EV's that would be able to go as far as a fuel efficient gas powered car are going to put out more emissions than the gas powered car in the end. Then you have the problem of this huge battery pack. Where and what to do with it when it is used up or damaged? How about the ignorance of people not knowing it still takes power to charge these batteries and that power has to come from somewhere... from something.

We have fuel efficient cars now. We have the technology to make them even more fuel efficient and put out even less emissions. Plus we have hybrids which are better than all out EV's. Why won't people do the research on EV's instead of just listening to this administration??? Is it a pride thing?

I work in mass transit and we have hybrid buses and just recently full electrical buses. For the over 10yrs the hybrids been in service and real world fuel numbers are marginal over diesel, and cost were you can buy 3 diesel to 1 hybrid. For the full electric they are over 1 million Paid 100% by Uncle Sam so They slap this cool Green sticker. As for the funding 2/3 of our budget comes from state and fed tax and 1/3 is ridership. For the hybrid batteries when they go bad is hazardous waste and the state has no idea how or where to dispose and so they stacking them up in them corner of the shop.

Right, one idiot... but did the cops know that? If they did and were just being cowards then sure, that is an issue. Still, their job is to protect and serve, not commit *******. That is a judgment call made by each officer... be a hero or go in blind and risk other deaths.
Yes, the cops did know there was one shooter. You must not be familiar with room clearing and the associated training. It is designed to enter a room blindly. Again, I don't know exactly what people learn at police academy, but I assume (hope) they would at least touch on room clearing, which is good enough when it comes to kids. "Protect and serve" means "protect and serve the community", not "protect and serve yourself". If a cop with years of training on a 9mm can't outgun a loser who bought his first gun a week ago, then that cop is a threat to civilians and isn't qualified to carry a gun.

Did they know the shooters background? Did they know if he is some loser or a Navy SEAL? Everyone is speaking from the assumption that they, the cops, knew ahead of time who the shooter was and what skill level with a rifle he was. It's the difference between speaking emotionally and speaking rationally. Furthermore, I would rather have law enforcement react to the situation rationally as apposed to acting emotionally and or irrationally to the situation.

Protect and Serve.... that is Protect and Serve everyone. Their job was to also try and save the shooter.

They got ordered to stand down by the mayor iirc.

I think the cops should’ve gone in. That’s what we pay them for, and it’s cowardly to let a maniac stay in a school who’s killing kids, they should’ve rushed the dude. One border patrol agent took the guy out…the cops seem to act like they don’t care if kids die.

Not everyone is built to be a cop, not everyone is built to be a hero either. HOWEVER..... This is from a Texas Active Shooter Course (SBLE 2195) found at this link if you want to read all of it. Yes, they cops should have went in, it's their training.

  • PRIORITY OF LIFE

  • First responders to the active shooter scene will usually be required to place themselves in harm’s way and display uncommon acts of courage to save the innocent. First responders must understand and accept the role of “Protector” and be prepared to meet violence with controlled aggression. The Priority of Life Scale is used to guide first responders during the critical decision making process that is required to effectively neutralize any threats. As first responders we must recognize that innocent life must be defended. A first responder unwilling to place the lives of the innocent above their own safety should consider another career field.

  • This scale does not suggest that any first responder approach the mission with reckless abandon for safety. The first responder using effective tactics coupled with situational awareness can isolate, distract, and neutralize the actor(s), while mitigating the loss of innocent life.

  • Priority of Life Scale
  • Innocent civilians
  • First responders
  • Offenders

  • Immediate, decisive action by school-based officers can have a dramatic impact on reducing casualties. Active shooter training for law enforcement is designed to improve the response capabilities of the police. Training for civilians is primarily designed around slowing down the rate at which the shooter can find victims, but there is also a self-defense component built in.

Their job is to eliminate the threat and then immediately try to preserve life, even if it’s the shooter’s.
Weird dichotomy, right there.
