They only shut down for a very small amount of time only for the safety of their people driving. The equipment can run in all of those temperatures. However their workers safety took priority and rightfully so. Either way it wasn't that long and they were back to their previous levels of output daily.

You want to get the gas prices down? Then simple bitch at the oil companies to RAISE their output because right now every refinery is ONLY RUNNING at 50-60%!!!! That IS PEANUTS compared to what they can run which is 90-92% safely DAILY! But they won't because that means more product out for sale which drives down prices which they do NOT WANT. They are raking in RECORD PROFITS for a reason and that is ONE MAJOR REASON! Go look at the ports tankers are sitting in port for 3-4 months before being off-loaded because the oil companies are not producing at the levels they are capable of and won't.

Just like some idiots believe it is the EPA that won't allow Oil Companies to build new Refineries and that isn't the truth either. More refineries equals more output and cheaper prices.

Those are the two major reasons why gas has been so high the past few years otherwise you would see it at 1.25 like it was in the '90s when they were running at anywhere from 80-92% daily.

A "very small amount of time" is a relative term. 3 million barrels per day is 6 times the amount of oil that we get from the Russians. A one week shutdown equals 42 days of oil from Russia. It has an effect. Don't kid yourself.

Not going to apologize when I said they shut down and so did a worker who has been down there for 30 years at this point at his refinery. They were back working and producing just fine after a few days. I remember when that happened the prices went higher for a week or so then dropped again around here as soon as production came back online.
