In Kentucky, gas expenses as a percent of income have hovered at 4.4% for a decade. Across the US, they have hovered around 3.1% annually for multiple decades. Hmmmm, that means it went UP but also went DOWN.

The long-term objective is to make that one "fuel" electricity, for the end-users anyway. But it's just not realistic, as different fuels are suited for different conditions.
