What is?

You don't get it. They CAN'T GET anything full auto. You litterally can't buy anything under $10,000 dollars that is full auto without an SOT license. It's not about if they care about the laws.
With some skill and motivation, how difficult has it become to change an existing pez dispenser into one that works much much faster?
I've seen some that were mfg well after 1986 that dispense the candy one after another just by holding the lid open.

Did I misinterpret what you said? How so? Address my points before you tell me they're wrong.

I believe in mandatory military service, and I believe military veterans should be allowed to possess any weapon they desire.

I don't see myself ever selling a gun, and every gun I buy I intend to keep forever, but I think you're overly worried with this, but that is your stance and I hope you declare that when you list a gun for sale.

Edit: typo

I don't think mandatory military service would be a great idea. There are lots of people who are not cut out for it. If it was mandatory, would there still be physical fitness requirements? Would people be exempt if they were too fat and couldn't run a mile in under 15 minutes? I'm assuming it would only apply to males too. I certainly wouldn't want to be in a combat situation with someone who couldn't drag me out of harms way if I got a leg blown off by an IED.

For the record, I wanted to join the military after high school and be a field mechanic. My mom had just lost my dad, and didn't want me to go into the military, so she paid for me to go to college instead.

I know some countries have mandatory military service.

I also don't see myself ever selling any guns.

It's not as easy as some people think. Mechanically, getting sears to catch or disengage. It can also be dangerous for the user. Dropping a hammer too early can turn a gun into a bomb.

Firearms can be modified by the person in possession of said weapons. As stated before, the person who is going to cause harm isn't going to care if they do anything legal. It is not difficult to modify a semi-auto firearm to make it full auto.

An assault rifle... Any rifle that would typically be used for military engagements.

How did y'all manage to turn the COVID thread into a gun control thread?
I think a Canadian said he could never imagine owning a gun or guns after I said it's hard for ME to fathom it being against the law to prepare for self defense.
I wasn't referencing guns, as it's illegal for our northern neighbors to even have a bat in their car for anything other than baseball, but I guess when an American says "self defense", the world assumes we mean guns.

Owning weapons is not illegal here
You can have a knife, a taser, and yes a baseball bat in the car
You can own guns as well
Hunting riffles
It is only illegal to own hand guns and assault riffles
So yes when you said illegal the assumption was guns because that is the only thing that's illegal

You are allowed to carry a knife for the purpose of self defense?
How about a small baton or club?
Pepper spray? Bee and wasp spray?

I’m thinking specifically of the Canadian criminal code that says it’s illegal to carry a weapon for self-defense.

By that definition, an M1841 Rifle is an "assault rifle", but an AR-15 is NOT 😂 😂

Once again, "assault rifle" is a scary term the military uses. The leader of the ATF could not define an "assault rifle" when put on the spot and asked directly. It basically applies to any gun someone doesn't like.
