Why put yourself in harms way with an assault rifle... I can reach out from a distance and be selective as well as accurate with my .308. People try to control too much. If someone wants to do harm you're not going to stop them by making rules and laws that restrict law abiding citizens.

Did I say it did? You are assuming something that isn't in that post.

Those were made to get around the class 3 license that takes 2-3 years to acquire.
You said, "There is not a single reason for anyone to have a bump stock." [reason to have is the same as need] and "They should be illegal or classified under the Class 3 like other fully automatic guns." [legality]
That's the same as saying need should dictate legality. Tell me how it's different.

Full auto is really only effective for cover fire in my opinion. Aiming works a lot better for suppressing targets.

Read into it however you want. Don't care what you think on how I feel about those bump stocks.

Facts are those were made to get around the class 3 license. I know a few people that had them at the range I go to all of them said point blank it was because they couldn't afford to get the license & they didn't want to deal with the feds on it & they wanted still shoot fully automatic instead of doing it the right way with a Class 3 license. But they still wanted that full auto ability. For what? To go and waste ammo at the range? To make themselves feel cool for a second? Join the military if they want to it that bad or do what some of us do when we want to shoot that stuff. Go to a range that rents that ability and have all the fun you want there. There is even a company in either Tenn or Kentucky that will take you up in a Huey with a group to let loose for a hour or two on a M60 along with many other guns for a fee.

So give me a reason for a bump stock besides the argument of punishing law abiding citizens or protection?

Give you something else I am in favor of that will piss you & others off no doubt. Anytime I do a private sale of ANY gun I will not just sell to anyone. They must agree to go through a local gun dealer so a background check can be done. I don't care if that is the law here in my state. That is how I do any sales of guns to anyone even friends. Any time a private sale goes through it should go through the dealer for a background check. Don't like it not my problem. Out of the couple dozen guns I have sold through private sales only ONE Person threw an absolute fit over it saying he would report me and all this other crap. He never did squat. All talk and no guts.

Bad enough the common person doesn't go through any kind training and these same people want to shoot a fully automatic gun.

Did I misinterpret what you said? How so? Address my points before you tell me they're wrong.

I believe in mandatory military service, and I believe military veterans should be allowed to possess any weapon they desire.

I don't see myself ever selling a gun, and every gun I buy I intend to keep forever, but I think you're overly worried with this, but that is your stance and I hope you declare that when you list a gun for sale.

Edit: typo

Why do you care about "certain types of weapons"? Is it because they look scary or because the people on TV say so? I am curious because if a bullet from a 9mm handgun goes through your brain or a bullet from an AR-15 gores through your brain they are going to have the same outcome. You can buy bolt on accessories for both types of firearms and extended magazines for both. So why restrict one over another? You can modify both types to be full auto as well. Is it ignorance of firearms or fear... or both?

Have you ever been in a public shooting and unarmed? Well I have been in three of them. And believe me when I say they are no fun. So maybe that's why my opinion is a little different than yours. To each his own. I know that nothing will change because people would shit their pants if any changes were made. We just have to accept as Americans that mass shootings are a part of life in America.

Not taking jabs at you... I am saying, what does it matter what type of gun it is. They all can cause death.

All I'm saying is that I think things can be done to make the United States a little safer. Everybody likes to say that criminals will always have guns which is probably true. But I also see where most if not all of the mass shootings are done with legally bought guns. Criminals for the most part kill other criminals. Remember that I said "most part". It doesn't necessarily have to be the guns that I mentioned but I feel like if nothing changes then we are just giving up and accepting the fact that mass shootings are part of life in the U.S.A. And that is sad.

Pass the word around... the best place to start is by parents being more involved with their kids.

A good start at making the US safer would be to outlaw cellphones. We lose 3,000 people a year due to distracted driving.
We've lost less than that number to all mass shootings from 1982 to November 30, 2021.

Where are the anti-cellphone groups?

I think the bump stock ban was overturned recently. As far as the full auto goes, if someone is planning on a massacre then I don't think they are going to worry about being legal in regards to full auto capabilities.

You don't get it. They CAN'T GET anything full auto. You litterally can't buy anything under $10,000 dollars that is full auto without an SOT license. It's not about if they care about the laws.

Please, define what an "assault rifle" is.

I do agree with your last sentence though.
