just got a Sony head unit and need help

I recently purchased a av-ax8100. I've tried every partition type every media format and I can't get anything to read off of all five of my hard drives. I've tried SSD I've tried non SSD drives. No matter what I can't get it to see files on the drive. It sees the drive it highlights yellow. No matter what I put in there especially basic things like MP3 files it just doesn't see it. Any ideas as this is very new to me

Are you using full hard drives or jump drives (usb sticks)
Are you formating in NTFS or Fat32
How big are the drives

Using a big hard drive over a gig on all drives. I formated to fat 32 and ntfs

It's not always the file format of the drive. Quite often it is the size of the drive. A lot of head units will only accept drives of the FAT32 file type and 64GB and under USB drives.

Try using thumb a thumb drive before you go too crazy diagnosing it. Could be that the Sony is not set up to access a standard hard drive.
