Why do liberals always us cheap gas as a reason why they’re better or not as bad as Republicans? I personally WANT gas to get more expensive and electricity to get cheaper. It will have an economic impact and make prices go up on things, which is just being factual about how it works. The fact that gas isn’t more expensive (and electricity is more expensive also btw) under democrats just reinforces my suspicion that they don’t give a shit about the environment. These are the types of narratives that confuse me about why some people even think they’re following progressives. Almost none of their policies in real life are even progressive. Words and cheap talk must be enough for most people.

Personally I don't care about the environment. I am not going to be alive long enough for anything negative done by humans to this planet to bother me. Neither are any of my great great grandkids. It's just a talking point for the government. They have no issues with ethanol and producing that stuff is horrible for the environment. They have to problem using lithium batteries for electric cars and that stuff is murder on our planet to obtain. "Environmental issues" are directly related to who has contracts with who.

Well, I disagree with that. I think it’s been politicized and turned into a corporate advertising ploy, but our effects on the climate are real. Water pollution and air pollution are real even without global climate change. The brown cloud in Denver Colorado in the 80s and early 90s was bad and very unhealthy.

They need to regulate pollution more for companies that produce pollution. They can make a cleaner running combustion engine. They made Diesels cleaner. But swapping gas for electric isn't going to help. Batteries are messy for the environment. We just don't see it in our towns... yet.

Electricity is still the way to go, and as the tech gets better, electricity will kill gas by itself. Electricity is just better. We can’t regulate pollution globally like Americans think. We will have to go to war with China to stop it.

What is funny is people on the right think that Keystone Pipeline was going to benefit the US and gas prices would come down and it would all stay here...WRONG! There is only a couple places that can refine that sludge and trust me it is sludge & extremely corrosive it destroys equipment like crazy. There is only one refinery in the US that can refine it and it is in Texas and they wanted nothing to do it because of how it destroys equipment. All that sludge was going to be loaded onto tankers and sent over to China. Cancelling that pipeline was a good thing not only because it robs China of much needed oil but also because of the impact on the environment that pipeline has already had with multiple leaks here in the US and in Canada.

It is better, regardless of our electrical system. The electrical system sucks because the funds get eaten up and they aren’t maintained or upgraded. Electric motors are going to take over gasoline once we can get the technology caught up. They will get more efficient and renewable sources will also improve. Wireless AC could power almost everything at some point.

Gas prices can be a trailing indicator of how things are going with the economy.
In my experience, it’s always the Conservapubs claiming gas prices were better under a Repub administration, because they experienced a very brief time of low prices.

And then you get people like Thx who know nothing about the economy or basic math, claiming it was COVID that drove prices up under Drumpf. Three years before COVID started.
