At least you had that. Where I grew up, car audio wasn't "huge". There where tons of systems and bass coming from cars, but nothing big and usually just a bunch of crap thrown together. A bunch of ghetto systems. Still is like that actually. I took a liking to car audio, but none of my friends did, and I couldn't find like minded people in high school, or out of high school. So basically I learned what I could (not much) until the internet got bigger. Now, these forums are the only place I talk about car audio. My friends think I'm nuts dropping over 10g's on a stereo and cutting a huge hole in the cab of my truck. "You could get a nice old school and supe it up for that kind of money". That's just not what I'm into.I still love car audio. But at 50 years old it’s getting harder to do my own installs. This install in my Mitsubishi killed my back. But I still love doing it. In fact I will be doing a headunit and some 6.5s in a 2013 Impreza here in the next week or so for a co worker.
I do see less comradery than we had back in the 90’s. I remember staying up all night helping a friend get ready for a competition the next day. I had friends buy an amp because they knew it would work with my system.
Hell I even volunteered for two seasons as a MECA judge. Volunteered: meaning no pay.
Just don’t see that anymore.
Just joking. I would guess most people on the forum are millennials anyway.Ugh no we are not Boomers try Gen X
Boomers and millennials should take notice that no matter how much they hate each other, there is a generation in between that hates them both……Ugh no we are not Boomers try Gen X
