Resilient Sounds -- Frame/motor joint durability when spacers are used?

I've looking at getting a pair of heavy duty 12s and ones that caught my eye were the Resilient Sound Platinum 12s.

From a technical standpoint it has quite the attractive package in terms of power handling, huge BL and the inclusion of a shorting ring.
Physically, I also like the inclusion of what appears to be a collar on the triple joint and bolted-down spiders but my main concern is the usage of spacers on the motor (10mm from the look of it).

I understand that the inclusion of spacers should improve cooling but my worry is that it seems quite fragile. I am guessing the motor assembly weighs about 50+lbs and it seems like a high-stress point when the woofers are mounted vertically (as most people do). With such a large weight, if the box is to be jarred or dropped it would be an immense amount of force applied through the spacers into the frame and I could foresee the frame cracking. Even when statically sitting there, mounted vertically, it seems like it's suboptimal.

I'm purely speculating as this is the first time seeing such a large motor hung off such spacers. Does anybody have any opinion on this or am I just wrongly speculating?

Lastly, although not to derail the topic too much:
-Does anybody have any opinions on the basket used (or what this styled is commonly named, 4-spoke "ribbed??")? Are there any advantages/disadvantages to this type over the "Ti" basket which many woofers are using.
-Any other points of concern regarding this specific woofer (physical or in terms of performance).

Alibaba Sounds....I mean resilient sounds...ehhh I know people with them that are happy with them but I think there are better options for same monies

The spacers aren't really a big problem. I'm not a fan of them but have had 100 pound subwoofers with them and no issues.


I would choose a different subwoofer personally.

Thanks for the advice. Good to know that the durability is not too much of a concern.

From the looks of it most value-add resellers are generally just piecing together catalog parts and it seemed that the Resilient Platinums looked attractive as an overall blend of parts (assuming the coil is American-made and they are build state-site, but who knows). I live in Canada, so it was just a brand that piqued my interest as there was some stock here at a reasonable price where I wouldn't get fleeced by shipping.

Interesting to hear that there may be better options out there which I'll closely research. To be honest, it's not exactly desirable to me to lug around of pair of ~65lbs woofers in a trunk so if there are some better options that at are a little lighter in the (3-5kW total power range, SQL oriented) I'd be interested in looking into that.

Some other readily available options for me in terms of 12s that I was strongly considering would be:
- Sundown U12s (I like the look of this one but it more cheaply built when I compare it to a pair of original Zv3 15s which I use in another vehicle)
- Skar VXF-12 (this one just looks questionable from a build quality perspective)

Ive seen the entry level RS subs put up decent #s at shows. Chinky made or not they are pretty good for the money.

Thanks for the suggestions... looking into the Deaf Bonce as there is actually a dealer over here.

The other candidate that I'm strongly considering is the Sundown U12 as it looks like in terms of power handling, weight and build. One thing thing that is puzzling me is this strange impedance curve where there is a "double bump". I've never seen such a thing before (manifests itself on both D2 or D4 coil configurations).

Anybody have any idea of whether this is just an artifact during measuring or is it an inherent physical effect of the design?
