ORION XTR PRO 12" vs. JL 10TW3's

So I am putting together my system and the last part of it is the subs. I have always been a JL guy and loved the 10W6 line. Now with my truck I am running into an issue with space. My first thought was to run three JL 10TW3's behind the back seat which is doable because they are the thin line subs, but now I am also looking at maybe going with one Orion XTR PRO 12. I guess my question is this. Which of these do you think would hit the hardest? I know an HCCA 12" would outdo both of them but don't have that kind of room for the enclosure and not enough power. I already have a Orion XTR 1500.1dz amp so the XTR PRO 12" is perfectly matched and JL told me it's also perfect for the three 10TW3's. I have been told that one XTR PRO 12" will hit harder than the 3 JL10TW's but that was on an Orion forum so obviously some bias there. I would like everyone's honest opinion. Thank you all in advance for any help.

I read your ask a few times so correct me if needed in your plan. three tens vs one 12 of any depth Is major cone space difference. Tough to make a pure brand comparison here.

Yes, exactly right it is tough. I am told by JL that the 3 10TW3's will hit the same as the 10W6 v2 which which is pretty insane. I had 3 v1's and they hit plenty hard. The whole rest of my system is Orion so I figured, if I can find the space for an Orion 12 maybe that's an option too. Certainly way more affordable than the JL's.

The confusion I have is because there have been several people telling me that the one 12" XTR PRO will hit harder than those 3 JL's. I don't know if I buy that because A) I have never actually heard an XTR PRO in action and B) I have never personally heard a 10TW3 either. My only experience is with the 10W6's so I was hoping someone here had knowledge of both of those subs and might be able to give me some insight as to which actually hits harder. The people saying the Orion will, are from an Orion forum so their opinion is biased of course.

3 tens will create more SPL. 1 twelve will handle the lowest frequencies a bit better. Honestly you will like the tens better because you are only gonna be able to feel the 12’s difference when you are parked. Driving will mask the low end extension probably and the 10’s will definitely be louder

I definitely liked the 3 pack of 10W6's I had before.

You can’t compare shallow mount woofers to regular woofers for the most part. Totally different performance

I know all about thinline vs. regular but according to JL the 10TW3's hit as hard or harder than the 10W6 v2's. My whole thing is, Orion has always been known for SPL. I for sure know an HCCA 12" would easily kill 3 JL 10's but I don't know much about the XTR PRO that's why I was hoping for someone with first hand knowledge of which one would produce more SPL.

If I go with the JL I will build this enclosure. The tech at JL said .60 (includes displacement) for each sub would be better for low end instead of the .50 that the manual says.

I know what JL says about the thin lines and I’m sure they are great for a shallow but I don’t buy they hit “harder” than the W6. Those thin lines have a hefty price tag on them as well. What are they going in?
If you want the space and the box hidden the do the thin lines. If you don’t care about hiding the box and can sacrifice the room, I’d do 2 regular 10’s ported

I haven’t heard the thins but they have a higher Xmax than the W3’s. On paper they should be just as good but musically I couldn’t say. I doubt that JL would put out something inferior though. They are the last old school hold out that I know of that builds any of their products stateside.

Yes, they do. As for the Taramps remote control, it is for use with the EQ they sell, not as a remote bass knob. They are not very sophisticated...
