I have always enjoyed installing radios for friends and family but these newer vehicles are making more expensive to just put in a stereo. Plus the new radios are getting more difficult to understand to operate. I found this forum by looking for some help with a radio I just added to my truck.

Welcome man. Yes the newer HUs / stock HUs control a little too much in these newer vehicles. Just a Dash kit and wiring harness gets a little expensive.

Thats where I am in my truck pretty much.. Simplistic.. east to trace down issues as well/Trace down the Culprit

You can still do it in a modern vehicle pretty much. Just add an external HU and go from there and keep the existing HU in the dash to operate the functions needed for the vehicle. Does it look ODD??Yes.. Does it work?Yes.

I feel like a decent comprise is to use a summing device from audio control or similar to add a sub to the system when things get that complicated. New cars have decent highs and mids, a sub is really all you need sometimes. Some of the products from audio control even allow you to hijack the entire signal and use it for a new system all together. I've never dived into a new car but it all seems very doable.
On the topic, this is why I will do whatever it takes to hold on to my 01 yukon as long as possible. So much more work for the same sound if not worse (depending on the route you take).
