I had an old 10" sub and i upgraded to dual 12s and a new amp. They have I think 200w more RMS, and their dual 12s for god sake! I have found though that as I turn up the gain, it doesn't even get to the point of where my old 10" was for loudness before it either cuts out or gets muffled. What is wrong?

your new amp might be garbage
your new subs might be garbage
but the most likely answer is, you new box is 100% garbage. Box makes or breaks the setup.
Another thing is, the amp might be inefficient and current hog which needs power to make power
Another thing is, the amp's gain is less sensitive than your old amp and you need a super strong signal to get anything out of the amp

ps: sorry if i sound mean, its just my smart ass communication style online.

Haha you're all good man, the amp is an Xax 500d I think by Bassworks?

Oh man, I'm at school and I don't have the model #. I do remember it was 250w rms. Also, it was ported and the 12" isn't.
you gonna have to list out your system 100% completely not just giving half assed answers man! Like exact model numbers of subs, amps, head units used, specs of the sub enclosure, where its sitting in the car, where its firing towards, electricals etc..

Sounds good, I'm at school right now which is why it hasn't been complete, when I'm off I'll give a rundown

Okay. I'll give as much info as possible.
Sub- bazooka EL 1204
Amp- Powerbass Xax 500d
I believe my head unit is a Pioneer - DEH-S1100UB
Now the sub enclosure I don't have the measurements of, but it's a smaller sealed one by Bassworks. It's in my trunk. It's facing out the trunk, opposite of facing towards the driver. Amp is connected to subs through 16 gauge wire. The two subs were connected to the amp seperetly, no wires were going to eachother.

I am thinking getting a ported box will give me the bass I want for my rap music.

Lemme know your thoughts. Thanks.

It is possible that you have the subs wired out of phase. Do this, reverse the speaker wires on ONE of the pair of subwoofers. And listen to it. If it sounds worse, change it back.

According to their manual, each 12 needs 1 cube sealed. each 12 wants 2 cubes with a port tuning of 31 hz. The amp looks fine for those, the power ratings should push them. 4 cubes ported At 31-35 hz would work for 2 of those. can I assume you have them in a prefab sealed box?
