Hooked up a Massive Audio E3 in a hurry, reversed the power and ground and POP! Pulled it open and at least two of the five 2200uF caps are popped.

I have the tools and ability to replace the caps, question is to those who have done amp repair, is it even worth my time for a 200$ amp? Would have to assume that there is the possibility that more is wrong.

And also, I cannot fathom that any amp this day doesn't have reverse polarity protection.

It would be worth fixing it yourself.

Where are the popped caps located? near the pos/negative terminals?
You could try and replace just the capacitors that have popped. You may get lucky..You may not. The power supply transistors could be fried.
Most amps do have reverse polarity protection. But its only a diode across the positive and negative inside the amp. Sometimes it works to stop the amp from blowing up.. lol

Do you have a multimeter?

I'm pretty new at repairing amps and still learning but yes it is worth replacing caps thier fairly cheap you can use substitutes as long as the uf's are equal the voltage doesnt matter too much but I would go up in voltage and check your diodes next to the input power they should only let flow of current one way and wouldnt hurt to check on gets either hopefully someone with more experience responds as well because that never hurts .

I am also new at repairing amps so if i goof please go easy. But normally if caps pop at the power supply stage the current can still flow on to the next components. A simple check of the reverse protection diodes, rectifiers, and power stage mosfets will tell you if the amp is worth fixing. Mosfets and rectifiers are cheap as well as the diodes. It will come down to how much time you have to do the checks and the willingness to do so. I myself have this urge to understand how anything works so i would try to repair the amp. Just put the DMM on diode check mode and check for shorts or open circuits.

Anything worth getting is always worth it more at a steep discount. Not familiar with that unit, but the brand is great.
