I am also new at repairing amps so if i goof please go easy. But normally if caps pop at the power supply stage the current can still flow on to the next components. A simple check of the reverse protection diodes, rectifiers, and power stage mosfets will tell you if the amp is worth fixing. Mosfets and rectifiers are cheap as well as the diodes. It will come down to how much time you have to do the checks and the willingness to do so. I myself have this urge to understand how anything works so i would try to repair the amp. Just put the DMM on diode check mode and check for shorts or open circuits.
