i swear, if i have another issue with this deck, im gonna switch brands.... first the usb drive pickyness, then the random resets let alone the RIDICULOUS amount of time it takes for it to start playing music from the usb drive and now this morning the fan on the back started making a loud noise. I dont think that a wire is rubbing against the fan because turning it off and turning it back on again made it stop. More likely a bearing. Ugh...

I love the single din alpines I have. I have a couple of issues with their touch screen 2 din units though. Price and no 3 way crossover. Their time alignment is a little funky too but you can do left and right sub with it. I haven't used a pioneer deck since 1989. I like the kenwood I have but no 3 way either. I've managed to get by without a dsp but I really need one for the kenwood deck. The Bluetooth doesn't sound as good as my alpines but may have more to do with the fact I'm passive with the kw. Idk with how factory radios are getting harder and harder to change the aftermarket options may start slowly decline. Who knows but I did see that stinger is coming out with a hu. Didn't see any details though

ive been running double dins for the last 6 years or so and really like the look of them. the thing that surprises me the most is the continuation of development of their proprietary operating systems in them. It kinda made sense back in the days before the proliferation of android virtually everywhere, but in the closing days of 2018 if is positively stupid. Ill leave my soapbox in the garage, but trust me, i could go on and on about this LoL

it is very sad that if someone wants a car newer than 2015 or so, its becoming virtually impossible to replace the deck, so aftermerket mfgs are going to care less and less as time marches on

I know you're right very sad..

I put a budget system in my step sons beater. Simple older car. Long story short he'll be getting his grandparents 16 Subaru Forrester. He uses Bluetooth for everything so I'll just put in a dayton dsp and bypass the hu. I think that'll make my life much easier. But with that said some of the coolness factor of not having a nice aftermarket hu will be gone..

exactly. I guess unless alpine, pioneer or kenwood gets heavily on board with equipping for OEM and adding RCA outs etc etc on factoru units, or molex plug slots on the back for dongles to do so, we are stuck in the DSP/LOC era for add ons like subs and so forth

Can you even buy a car with the radio delete any more? Maybe a work truck idk. Everything else is tied into the cars radio anymore. Car manufacturers last worry is aftermarket car audio lol. Would be nice if they would work together to simplify adding amps etc.

I've heard nightmare stories about how honda does their radios in the civic. I want another honda too because of their reliability. Oh well may have to by pass that radio too.

I think we'll see more and more amplifiers with built-in dsp.

last one i knew of that was worh a crap was the 2018 altima, and the 2019 has gone to the weird table-mounted-on-the-dash approach it seems

Nissan I wouldn't be scared to own a Nissan. When I buy a car I keep it for a very long time. Reliability is very important to me. I still have a 98 f150 and a 2000 mercury. Both with the 4.6 v8. Not much power but have been very reliable for me anyway. Pretty much have everything I need to update radios. That'll be so simple compared to a modern car..

Cars have gotten more and more complicated guess it is natural that the factory radios follow suit. Idk I don't buy new but we'll be looking for something newer probably in the next year or 2.  I'll be steering the woman away from the cars that say premium radio.

also, ive owned 2 Nissans. my first was a '96 Infiniti i30t and my second was an '03 Maxima SE. The i30t made it to 245,000 miles and they werent very nice miles i must say. The Maxima only made it to 140,000(ish) and went thru 2 ECUs during the 6 years i owned it. Bought it with about 65k on the clock, so it made it 80k or so before it let it go due to hail damage(just so happened to coincide with the second ECU failure). Total shame, i really liked that car :(

***** most of the best cars are Japanese. A lot of them are made here so it's not like we can't put them together. Corporate greed cutting corners to make more profit imo. Not that all the big 3 is junk but it's kinda hit and miss. Too many turds in the toilet bowl though.
