sundown SAE 1200D

SAE is made in China, they don't have internal strapping, are not stable above 15v, and are not recommended for use under 1 ohm.
For a regular 12v electrical at 1 ohm system the SAE-1200D performs pretty close to the SAZ-1500D.
Cool, i love my SAE but i didnt know what made it different than the SAZ.

Ill clamp mine if someone gives me a quick run down on what to do and someone lets me borrow a sub that can take it lol.

i still got a sae1200d from you that i havent put in yet.. and wont for about a month or 2
LOL hope it works. You better test it.. 30 days warranty on those clearance 1200D's and that's it no exceptions.... if you test it now and it doesn't work no problem, just send it back. If it's after 30 days it's $90 to repair it.

You can, but it wouldn't be official unless it was voted on and people elected that your setup was a good candidate for the test.

hahaha ofc i tested it! they both work good but my electrical only allows me to have 1 in my setup lol! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Cool. Glad you tested them.

I had one guy PM me that his didn't work right but he went back and checked it again and they did.... go figure.... I test them all before putting in the box, but something can always happen in shipping. X-rays, EMF, etc... LOL j/k.

This is the one I tested... it's a new board from the guys making these AP amps and they call it 1800 watts, so I'm guessing it's the AP18001D model :

12x Power Supply Fets

8x Output FETs

Part count = the AP1500D but this one is rated 1800 for some reason.

The two caps = a little more capacity than the four in the AP1500D. These are 4700 each and the AP1500D has 4x 2200. So... it is at least as strong as the AP1500D.

In any event... the SAE-1200D utterly destroys this amp on a 1 ohm reactive load.

I say it will tie or WHOOP an Audiopipe 1500.... Clamp challenge?
I'm very pleased I bought the 1200D over the AP1500D. The thing that bothered me about the AP is it only has 4ga terminals vs the 1/0 the SAE has. The only positive I see on the AP is the price. Last time I checked they were down to $144 + shipping so for people on a budget it's probably not a bad choice. Personally, I didn't mind spending a little more for the Sundown

It actually has 2 more output FETs than the 1500... which should give it another 150-300 watts but 300 more is pushing it for those cheap chinese FETs.... I think thats what those are... why don't you get brandon to take it apart and give me the part numbers so I can pull the datasheets on them....?

I didn't think the SAE-1200D would tear the AP1500 a new one, but I figured it would at least tie, and probably be 200 watts or so more output.

these AP amps may not be bad for a bargain basement amp though, not everyone has got the SAZ money.... though personally I would save up for the SAZ. SAE is okay, but not good enough for me to put in my ride... maybe if it were a comp vehicle and I was literally terrorizing the amps with 20 volts or something I'd use the cheap stuff so when it blew I'd just toss it....

Woops, yah you are right Chris... it does have 10 ouputs vs. the 8 of the AP1500D.

I can do a video clamp test between the two as I have one 1200D here still //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The 1200D rips it a new one on a reactive load.

Wired to option #1 would be ideal for those subs. I have quite a few 10s. in the proper enclosure, tens can get down pretty good with the right...
