Monoprice speakers

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any experience with Monoprice car speakers?

I can't link because I'm new, but i'm talking about the 6 1/2" speakers they have, you can find them under Monoprice > ACCESSORIES > Car Accessories > Speaker

I know these won't match a high end system, but has anyone ever heard these speakers? Their home theater line of speakers is very well reviewed on home theater forums like AVS, so I'm wondering if maybe their car audio may be another hidden gem. Any thoughts?

I have a 2008 Ford Edge, stock HU, still has the OEM 6x8's, and I'm pretty broke, but thought these might give me a little better quality audio over the factory system.

Cheap older Pioneer quad axials (the "IMPP" cone is a giveaway) and no name flea market subs.

No I'll take that as a no vote then for you, lol. I'm not interested in the subs, only the 6 1/2" speakers. Like I said before, Monoprice sells some very positively reviewed HT speakers, so I though maybe these no-names might be on-par. I know I'm not going to get reference quality out of them, and they will only be powered by the HU. Do you have any other suggestions for some low cost, decent sounding (compared for ford factory speakers), for a fairly low price?

Never, ever buy car speakers that are 3/4/5-way, unless you're going for a high end (or DIY) 3-way component set. If you want basic speakers, 2-way only!
