Hey ya'll!

It has been quite some time since I have posted here. I have been quite busy with othr things //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Last night I had a chance to visit a local audio shop (The Sound Room) which was recently authorized to be able to sell McIntosh products. This one of only 2 stores to be certified as an authorized dealer in the St. Louis area. The other store that sells Mac's is awfull! High pressure sales and prices that are padded to the max! Anyway, I had a chance to sit and listen for a while and to this day McIntosh amazes me with their line of products. Now they have TUBE amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Only in production for about a month, these beauties are selling like hotcakes! At a mere $11K each they are to be a bargain!

Here is a shot of one of the listening rooms. The XR27 Line Arrays are being driven by the MC2301 tube amps. A MT10 serves as a vinyl source, there is a 750gig music server (MS750), a MDA 1000 DAC for sound tweaks and a C2300 tube preamp. Total cost (not including cables or interconnects) $85,000.00 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

The other listening room was a HT/Audio combo. C1000 tube preamp, MX120 Home Theater Processor, VP1000 Video processor (SD/HD scaler, converts to 1080p), MS750 music server, Bowers & Wilkins 802D's driven with the MC1.2KW monoblock amps, center channel was either a 2D or 3S (not sure). Cost? I dont know, I didnt ask.

Had a great time. By the way, they had a one day only 10% off sale yesterday for any item bought...lol:crazy:

Hope you enjoy the pics. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

wish there was a place like that around here. the only high end audio shop round here sells the normal overpriced stuff - but they do have mpyre and B&W which surprised me.

Screw the amps...I want more info on those line arrays //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I've never like their speakers. Maybe I'm a weirdo, but they sound bad to me actually. Almost fake, like they are trying TOO hard to sound good. (I'm nuts I know) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

But, their electronics are still nice.

I spy are Richard Grey Power Station.

McIntosh Line Arrays are 'hall of shame' products //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif .. their newest design, XRT2k

is better than previous junk, but still retarded in design. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Their amplifiers are cool, but nothing really amazing that justifies the price tag.

The last McIntosh audition I did with B&W loudspeakers put me to sleep. /yawn.

That's why DIY rules //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

or perhaps you're a pompous obsessive sq listener who thinks his kits are better than anything any company can design?

maybe not..

or perhaps you're a pompous obsessive sq listener who thinks his kits are better than anything any company can design?
maybe not..
I don't have any kits, but I have a few things in my back pocket, things that

anyone can have also if they apply themselves;

* common sense

* electronics experience

* audio experience

Believe or not, many manufacturers lack these very basic skills, their main

skill is;

* marketing

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Here's a test: Look at their line array designs and find the engineering flaws,

the laws of science is your ally //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
