Im selling my sx1250 to get one of theses and im gonna power 2 15" l7's with them....my electrical system never messed up running my sx but i know im gonna need to do something b/c this thing will have power....how much will doing the big 3 help...i dont have that done yet...and coudl i just get a good optima battery instead of getting a new alt....thanks

i don't think you'll gain enough power by switching to make a big difference. you're only gaining 500 watts or so at most... audibly not a huge difference.

i would make the switch, the zx1500.1's are power houses. If running it at 2 ohms, you can expect to see around 1700 watts, if running at 1 ohm, you'll see around 2300 watts(but probably will need a couple batts to keep the voltage up). I have a stock 80 amp altenator and two yellow tops with no problem(running amp at 2 ohms). My friend has a 80 amp altenator and 3 batteries(he's running his zx1500.1 at 1 ohm) with no problems. You don't need a bigger alt, i would do the big 3 and get a second battery in the trunk(optima or kinetic). I personally would run it at 1 ohm. If i decide to switch my subs ever, i will be running my amp at 1 ohm. Technically there may not be much noticeable gain but i think there will. I went from one 15 ported off 1300 watts to two 15's sealed of 1700 watts, was told i wouldn't see much difference. Let me tell you my system is a night and day difference. My friend who's a kicker rep used to promote the sx1250.1's to everyone, now he promotes the zx1500.1.

ZX1500.1 is a solid amp, my birthsheet is 1700 watts @ 2 ohm

not 1 ohm stable, but can handle a 1 ohm load, providing you have a decent electrical system. Gives a nice power boost at 1 ohm. Whats the birthsheet say on the sx? I wouldnt trade them out if anything I would strap 2 sx1250s together if youre looking for more power. Run an optima in the trunk and leave the duralast under the hood

im probaly just going to get a 200 amp alt so i wont have to mess with extra batteries...my sx is a powerhouse on my stock electrical system but i want the zx1500 ...obviously a little more power and 4 years newer

polecat...should i get the 200 amp alternator...do you think i will be ok then with powering the zx1500....im really only wanting to do it at the proper 2 ohms....is there anyway to have the 2 15 l7s hooked up to a 2 ohm load and then when i want to put the amp at a 1 ohm load i can or what? and is anyone interested in a basically brand new kicker sx1250 for 450$

if your subs can wire to 2 ohm, than you can't just magically have the amp at 1 ohm when you want.
