Zapco running HOT!

Hey guys I have a issue with my new zapco amp that I had installed. It gets really hot to the touch and today it went into protection and all the audio got cut. Its a Zapco competition 4.0x can anyone tell me why this might be happening. I have an 05 Acura tsx and am also running a Jl Slash 500/1 to my sub.

Can it have something to do with voltage? I know for a fact that my stock batttery sucks. I always get slow cranks when starting my car I was thinking of replacing it with a Kinetic cell. I would really appreciate anyones advice.

since you presumably didnt see everything "installed", do you know for sure that there are no impedance issues or mismatches????

No I dont know of any impedance issues at all I just had it installed today kinda concerned about it.

No, all factory speakers are out. I have Focal comps front and rear.

impedance very well could be and also if your seeing lower then 11 volts at full tilt, it may tend to do that

Yea everything is factory and Im running 4 gauge to the amp.

most zapcos run hot. mine did

id do a battery in the back just in case,. it helps alot, now unless your consuming more ampereage then you alternator can give out then you need to look into a HO alt

make sure the amp is grounded solid.

You should be running 4 gauge min. on that amp! Also when that model amp is on, it draws 4 amps of current just doing nothing! as in idle/no sound. You should be running 4 gauge min. on that amp! Also when that model amp is on, it draws 4 amps of current just doing nothing! as in idle/no sound. And yes! you need a real good battery if your going to listen with the engine off.

Yes I know, a Zapco dealer made me an offer I could not refuse. Im running a set of K2Ps with them. It sounds stunning.
