Zapco Amps

I am starting my newest collection with a zapco amp. I know i want a 4channel, I just can't decide which way to go. I am thinking that this will be the first block in building a system that I will want to have for many years.

For now I will be running a 2 way set of components passive off the front channels and a pair of 8" subs off the rear channels.

As of now the future plan is to run the front stage active off this amp, and possibly adding another if i go to a 3-way setup and getting another amp on top of that for a sub stage.

If the 1000.4 and the 2.5x were roughly the same price which would you go with? Or would it be worth an extra say...$300 to go with a 4.0x? What should I do?
