Your opinion: AA Assassin 8 vs. JL 8W7 "Heavy Eight"

The 8"W7 really is an amazing woofer, just a lil overpriced. I thought they were more than $300.

Either way the RL-i is the better choice for the money- but the w7 8 is a nice driver.

So you're looking to install just a single 8"?? I've never modeled any of those 8"s up but if you're looking for max output from a single 8", the AA may not be enough. It's an entry level sub that wasn't designed to compete w/the 8w7...

Yes... I'm looking for the best punch from the smallest space to complement a factory stereo. I have enough trunk space to swallow a baby elephant. But I only want to use a tiny amount of that space for the audio since I still want access to my full sized spare, and need to haul servers and swiches around for work, and need to bring home groceries for a family of 4. Real life sucks, otherwise I could drop in a pair of 15's and make the entire system redicilous. (Maybe it will be my next car, or... one of my kids car when they start to drive! Mwahahaha!)

you may want to look at anonymous's SS prototype 8" a few threads up. looks beefy.

That video's friggin' nuts! Phone jumpin', metal warpin'... I NEVER expected an 8" to hit so hard. I was seriously expecting 1/4 of that movement, if any at all. Now I know that this idea will work. Thanks!!!

So I'm droping the AA.

It now looks like the RL-i vs. 8W7. And I'm leaning towards the RL-i because price and box dimensions and HotCarl's video is more than I was expecting from an 8!

The 8w7 is in a totally diffeerent class than the assassin, yes its beefy but not up to par with the likes of the JL or the SS. They are cheap however. If your going with multi setups the assassin is your best bet. With single setups however, the RL-I should PWN the assassin...

I know THIS IS AN OLD THREAD ,but as most respond when you want to know someting "search" Was wondering what the equivalent of an 8w7 in terms of its competitors and came across a few threade raving about this RL i8's . Thinkin an IDMax 8 woulda been bad azz but didn't know they made one.
