Your brain may explode

A) No the story is not real, and no it couldn't be done today... there is no possible way to connect the nervous system to something artificial then tranmit it to the brain.

B) The closest I know of was a show I saw where they did head transplants with 2 monkeys... they lived about 1/2 hour and their bodies where basically motionless life support.

C) Some other cool things that are real:

Monkey's that control a robot arm with only brain waves to get them food

Some guy just got a prothetic arm that is controlable by thought. He can also "feel" how much pressure he is applying via a plunger on his chest

uhh I'm bored but there are more.... but that is not possible as of now or 1978, also keep in mind the PC didn't even exist in 1978 so where would they get a computer with enough power to control a human body? They didn't even have a GUI to work with.. Imagine even with a human operater of this ficitious computer he'd have to do everything with a DOS/Unix command line interface..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Your answer on the blind people

Re: Do blind people see in their dreams? Do they see in color?

I HAD SIGHT FOR 52 YEARS AND LOST MY SIGHT FROM DIABETES.

I DO DREAM IN COLOR IN MOST OF MY DREAMS. I SEE IN ALL MY DREAMS ALSO.

People who are blind do dream. The dreams of people who have been blind from a very early age (called “congenital blindness”) tend to be different from those who are blind now but had sight before. Those who are congenitally blind often have dreams that include more instances of sounds. Both groups experience dreams as imaginatively rich as those of sighted people.

Whether or not congenitally blind people dream in images has been studied, but the findings have been mixed – some studies conclude that congenitally blind people do not dream visual images, while other reports conclude that they do.

Helen Keller addressed the topic of dreams in her landmark work, The Story of my Life. Her dreams are discussed in Part. III, Chap. V

Always blind = no visual dreams... they hear things in their dreams...

that might be too much to handle being blind and all...but who knows.
