being honest CAN get you somewhere better.

lying and being dishonest can remove you from the neutral situation and CAN make it worse. (IE: lying to an officer)

try to find something your buddy likes/wants and offer a trade? or bother him about it often and keep asking "so how about that kicker equipment"
