Let me give you two scenarios.
#1
You're hanging out in front of when some guy in a drives by and all you hear is really loud sloppy-*** bass that doesn't resemble the music at all. It just sounds like his car is rattling apart to some song that you can't really distinguish. All you hear is BRAAAAAP BRAP BRAAAAAAAP.
Usually one can only assume he's listening to
I personally can't help but laugh because it sounds like shit. I mean if you want to get loud, why don't you just buy a motorcycle or a shotgun?

You're hanging out in front of when some guy in a drives by and you hear the loudest, cleanest, most accurate sound you ever heard ever coming from a vehicle. You feel the bass and hear the song as he drives by and it sounds incredible from a distance. His car doesnt' rattle half as much because he invested in SQ and not SPL but you can make out what he's listening to and know that there isn't any distortion or sloppy response.
I personally would be like 'woah that was pretty sweet' on the other hand on this scenario.
What I'm saying is, in the long run it does cost more to make something sound good (and gives a better 'wow' factor). Why do you think Bose asks you to sign over your soul on their lowest line of products?
So many people buy cheap equipment (ex: pyle) that's really only good for sPL because it's too cheap to have SQ. In effect, most of the systems in your town are the same because of poor, ignorant high school/college students. So when your friends hear you're awesome SQ system, it'll be something they've never heard. A good, loud, sounding system.
