Yet another encounter with the JL fanboy at work.

The suspect randomly walks near me.

Him: "Here's how you tell if your system is good. Download Bassgasm, and if you can make three girls get off, then you're bumping."

Me: "Let me guess. You did that?"

Him: "Yes."

Me: "Bullshit."

With his JL W6 and JL 500/1. Anyways, the conversation goes on, and he says several things that blow my mind. Here's the highlights.

If you hooked my amp up to your subs, it would make them hit even harder than your amp does now. (For reference, I'm running 2 12" RE SX and Orion 2500D, 3.8 cubes @ 33hz.)

He swears up and down his amp is that underrated.

So, to tell me how much better it is than all the other amps, he says:

I tried out a bunch of 500 watt amps. I tried a Legacy, a Volfenhag, and a Kenwood, and the JL made the sub hit harder than ALL of those.

I remind him that those brands are shit.

Well my JL amp made a RF P3, their best sub, blow in ten minutes. And a kicker solo baric.

So you had your gains too high? Solobarics can take a lot of power. You had it hooked up wrong.

Apparently, his amp is 1ohm, so that's why it blew all the subs.

Also, his box was "just like mine", because it was JL competition box, and it was even carpeted and vented.

The funniest thing is, this guy doesn't even own a car. Some guy is holding onto all of his stuff until he gets his Escalade.

I know this is like a lot of posts, but i'm still frustrated about how stubborn some fools can be. like nothing else matters. and i really wish i could remember some more. he made himself a straight clown. anyways, hope this was some decent night reading for everyone. have a good weekend.

The thing about JL is that doesnt make you smarter, hes just an idiot, its not JL's fault. They do make great stuff, its just most people hate it b/c they cant afford it.

I tried telling a kid in the local car audio shop that my 15" RE SX had comparable output to a 13W7 and he denied it and went on to make an *** of himself. And let me mind you he had never heard of RE but he ensisted that it was impossible for it to come anywhere close to the W7 because "it's the best speaker ever made and nothing can come close to touching it, loudest woofer on Earth".

thats the thousandth time I have heard that story, similar story....just ignore and laugh to yourself..... would be way to many threads about this(as if there isnt already) if everyone posted their encounter with ppl like this

JL still makes a great product and they dont even try to gear things towards SPL, yet all n00bs think they do

sure, i reminded him that JL does make great stuff, and i bet his system sounded good and got pretty loud.

but then again, he never had heard of Orion, or RE. so he's kinda biased. eventually i took a smoke break and started a new conversation about work related things. i just deal with it. poor soul.

lol yea...like the guy that told me they would need to put my gfs door speakers in bc they have the proper tools and I wouldnt know what to do if something went wrong in the install

JL does make a fair product. i'm not denying that. i'm getting a laugh out of the fact that somehow his 500/1 is great and comparable to my Orion 2500D because it's better than a legacy 500 watt amp.

JL makes a nice product, but they're just ridiculously overhyped. People like that dude at work kill me. I don't hate on JL because they're too expensive for me, just because tards think the sun shine's out JL's ***.
