aight, my gf's gotta nissan maxima wit a stock deck... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

she had a nice pioneer deck in her other car but sold it along with the car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif (again)

aight well anyways, luckally she did atleast save the amp n subs, im puttin the amp in the maxima n just need to know an alternate hookup for the REM wire (where her stock deck doesnt have a rem output wire).. what voltage does it need to be?

i was thinking about just wireing it up to a switch next to her radio, but then i rememberd how much of a ditz she truly is, and i dont even want to imagine how long it would be before shes callin me for a ride cuz her batts dead cuz she left the switch on... hmmmm...

you can wire it up from the ignition wire in the steering column so it comes on when the car is on

or if you have a power antenna that stays up while playing a non-radio source, you could use that wire

how hard is it to wire somthing through the ignition wire? and how do u know which wire it is?

would the wire to one of the tail lights work (the ones that turn on when the cars on) ?

thanks

You can use a tap at the fuse block, just tap off of something that only has power when the ignition is on. There are a few companies that make a more robust version of a tap...extend a fuse or something like that...I used them for a couple of circuits in my Jeep. You plug the unit into the fuse block in place of the fuse and it has provisions for two fuses in it. The first spot is for the fuse that you removed, the second is for the circuit that you're adding and it has a pigtail hanging off of it that you attach your wire to. Hope that wasn't too muddy...

aight i got the REM wire werkin perfect, i wired it to the switched wire to an in dash clock... good enuf..

new problem though.... didnt even think about this, but the stock HU doesnt have low output wit the RCA cables... i cut the RCA cables n spliced em with the regular speaker output(which is also split to the high output too), not much choice i didnt think. It works, but only until a song wit high bass comes on, or u turn the HU up too far (its not loud unless u do tho) then it shorts out n u gotta turn the amp off n back on (ive gotta reset on it, on the REM wire commin outta the dash, but yeah thats not gonna cut it... doin that every couple mins gets me pretty annoyed)

shes nuthin but **** complications... lol

lol, thats not a complication. Your lucky you never blew out the input on the amp. Take those RCA's that you just butchered and throw them in the garbage. Next buy a line level converter. Install it by running speaker outputs from your HU to it. Run RCA's from the line level converter to the amp.

oo sweetdeal, thanks... level line converter, ive never heard of that.. but the name is pretty self explanitory, how much do they run for n where can u buy em? any car audio store or...?
