Yellowtop in the trunk or Kinetic?

Well I intalled a 220 amp alternator a red top under the hood(75/25) and a yellowtop(34/78) did the big 3. I currently have hooked up 2 15 inch memphis with an Mtx 1501d amp. I dim to just about 12 volts so my question is should i ditch the yellow top for a kinetic hc2400? Keep in mind i will be putting back my memphis mc2000d so i will need alot of power

You should be fine with the Yellow Top...

If you put the MC2000d in an it draws too much look into the Kinetic and run them both... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If I were you I would get rid of the red top and keep the yellowtop and get a 2400. I hope that you have the red and yellow tops isolated from each other. If not your bringing down the performance of the yellowtop. The yellowtop should rest at a higher voltage then the red. If they are just in parellel then the yellowtop is resting at the voltage of the red. Not much of a differance but still a difference. You shouldn't mix battery technologies if possible.

look for a small foam circle on your yellow top, THOSE ARE VENTS!
Even if they aren't sealed...

You can mount them in any postion...

Don't believe me check their web site..

"Nonspillable

Due to its completely sealed case, the OPTIMA Yellow Top battery is extremely safe and corrosion resistant. Acid can't leak or spill, making them clean, user-friendly and environmentally sound. In addition, the maintenance free sealed case design eliminates the need to add water or clean terminals."

I've seen them mounted in show cars with little clear hoses coming off the battery vent covers.

You're right, the acid won't spill out, but for charging purposes there might be occasion for SOMETHING to come out that hole.

From the optima site:

"Overcharging can cause the safety valves to open and battery gasses to escape, resulting in premature failure. These gasses are flammable!"

I don't know what you have seen... But Yellow Tops are SEALED... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Maybe they are modded? But a stock Yellow top is SEALED...

I thought it was rather clear...
it's this other quote from the optima site that gets me. Mind you, not from typical use.

"Overcharging can cause the safety valves to open and battery gasses to escape, resulting in premature failure. These gasses are flammable!"

^^ the vent's i've seen hosed to the outside of the vehicle in show cars.

i'm done.
