y-splitters

will using y-splitters pre-amp affect SQ? what exactly will it do to the signal? affect amplitute?

reason i ask is because im currently running my rainbow CMX kicks active on my PG Xenon, but i want to amp my rear SL69s too. i got scammed by PremierAudio, so i dont have my passive xovers anymore and i cant find anywhere to buy them. so i was thinking of buying another small 2ch amp to run the tweets on. then i could throw the mids and SL69s on my Xenon. or maybe i could just put the SL69s on the 2ch, whatever works. i just dont want to destroy the signal coming from my deck.

you should be safe. the HU has some output impedance, which is usually listed, and the amp has some input impedance, which is also listed. from these the difference in output signal level can be calculated. but more realistically, you'll find that there is some small but unimportant difference.

as for other issues, its always possible to get strange things to happen, but I wouldn't expect it. you might encounter some issues with mp3-players, depending on the build of the amplifier.

edit -- i mean handheld mp3 players. i've heard of issues with using floating sources and multiple amplifiers.

like an ipod? i got my ipod hooked up to my 9800BT now. all the gear in my sig is installed. you saying if i get y-splitters, i might hear interference from the ipod?

anyone else got input on the SQ issue? i paid a lot for all my gear so i dont want to lose SQ. my deck now is pretty decnt but im looking into getting a cda-9887 or cd7200 mkII (leaning toward the alpine though). both have good pre-out signal strengths...
